Prologue

                                                                                     Before

I sat along the wall from the other end of the throne room as I watched Amabelle's latest puppet making my skin crawl with every inhumane gesture she forced the poor soul to do. It took everything I had to not empty the contents of my stomach right there on the floor, this is a sight I never wish to be accustomed to.

"I said to entertain me you peasant, is this what you call your best?!," Queen Amabelle's voice shrieked.

She held the attention of every being within the room, none daring to move a muscle for fear of drawing Amabelle's attention to them.

"What are you worthless humans good for if you can't even fulfill the simplest of orders?" Amabelle's sickly yet seductive voice echoed throughout the throne room.

She sat upon her throne with that wicked condescending smile of hers, watching every move her soon to be victim made. Like the predator she was.

The gown she was adorned in left little to the seer's imagination. It was made up of the finest silks from the palaces haberdashery, colored in onyx black like her hair with splotches of crimson red sequins. The neckline, if it could even be considered that, plunged down to just above her navel with just enough fabric on either side to cover her breasts leaving very little to the seers' imagination.

"I-I'm sorry your highness, I truly do no wish to displease you." The poor soul rambled while trying to hold onto whatever shred of dignity they still had left within themselves.

"Is there a song you wish to hear that I may charm you with? Or perhaps another dance your Highness?" He stammered out.

A poor fragile man looked as if he would keel over any minute from exhaustion. Amabelle had demanded that he be the one to please her this evening and had sung her power of seduction making the poor lad dance for hours on end. She would always choose one of us humans to parade around like a fool, as she felt that we were the scum of the realm, who shouldn't even deserve the right to exist, it is a wonder she let any of us live after she took control of the palace.

Everyone within the palace obeyed her every command for fear of her using her power on them if they displeased her. Her power was used to control

It was always the same with whoever she chose, she would make them perform humiliating tasks to where they looked like they wanted it to end their own life than do her bidding any longer. Once she had them where she wanted she would then end whatever festivities she held that evening and take them to her chambers where she would sing her siren songs and devour their souls leaving their shriveled corpse behind.

"You peasant, my glass is empty, come remedy that now or I'll have you executed."

I tore my gaze from the monstrosity of a ruler and hastened my steps to fill one of Amabelle's drunken siren sister's glass. As I filled her glass I could feel her eyes roaming up and down my body like she was eyeing her next meal.

"You are far more pleasing to look at than some of these other human rodents, care to spend the evening with a real lover? I promise to go easy on you." She drunkenly slurred out.

It took everything inside of me to not bite back with some smart retort that would surely get me killed, instead I opted for something that would hopefully dissuade her interest in me.

"I thank you for that grand and most generous compliment that I am assuredly not worthy of, but I do have to attend to my night duties preparing the Queen's bed chambers. I do not wish to upset the royal highness by not having everything to her liking, I do not wish to intact her wrath upon myself or you for giving into one another's desires." I stated with as much confidence I could muster.

The siren sister seemed to think it over while guzzling down her fresh glass of ale then she smirked.

"Ay I do not wish to cross our glorious queen, maybe another time then peasant I must go find another who seems to be pleasing my eyes to serve in my own bed chambers tonight."

With that she sauntered off leaving me releasing the breath I had been holding. I was praying to the Goddess Iris of Humanity that she did not take me, as with the queen's conquests if she were to have taken me to her bed chambers I would have never been seen again.

I quickly composed myself wanting to be in my place when it was time, I had a short window of opportunity to make sure my task was completed. I began making my way to the kitchen where other human servants were lurking about in the darkest parts, trying to stay out of sight for fear of being spotted by one of them and used for their amusement that evening or worse killed. It wasn't always like this here in Estos, at one point there was peace and harmony between all species.

That is until Amabelle and her hoard decided that they should be at the top of the food chain and used their sultry voices of magical power to command every living creature to bend the knee to her and be her slaves. She locked away the witches High Priestess Simone along with any who should also possess the power to challenge her and kept them locked away in a cage encase with Hag Stone preventing them from using their own powers to free themselves and end Amabelle's reign.

I had just made my way through the back corridors and down the last section of stairs to where the weekly deliveries were made to the kitchen, making sure that I was not followed along the way. I opened the back door as quietly as I could and peeked my head out to see both guards taking a drunken slumber.

"Good it looks as if the one before me was able to ensure that the guards would not be an issue." I thought quietly to myself while watching where I stepped to not make a sound.

I took one last surveillance to ensure there were no other guards around that could snuff out this rebellion before it could even begin. The realm needs this rebellion more than anything and I will not be the cause of it not succeeding. Once I was sure the coast was clear I took the burning torches on either side of the doorway and snuffed out their flame leaving nothing but darkness all around.

I stood there and waited for what felt like eons before I heard the sound of footsteps signaling there was another being nearby. I looked up from my post and was greeted with three hooded figures approaching.

"Are you Jesper?" One of the figures asked. They kept their face hidden with their cloak, the only characteristic I could make out was the tip of their nose and a shadow of a mouth. None that I knew who had joined the rebellion's cause had ever been able to lay eyes on their faces in any of the encounters I had heard of.

"May the moon Goddess Niena's light prevail." I replied with the coded message that was passed to me by another servant for the cause, the High Priestess Simone still had a reach even from behind bars.

"Show us the way then lad, and let us begin a new era ending Amabelle's dreadful reign. The High Priestess has a plan that will put a stop to this unorthodox way a life, and you my boy are the reason we stand a chance of making it happen."
