Chapter Twenty: The business Conference

Jennys Pov

We wake up the next morning and get dressed to go to breakfast. Jax and I took the day and went out exploring. We went to the nearby mall and I ended up getting some stuff. Some crop tops and jeans. Jax got some shoes. Then around 4pm Jax stopped in front of the spa/salon. He told me that he wants me to get dolled up and pampered before the conference/gala thing. I nodded and smiled as we went in. I got my nails done and I got my hair curled and blown out. Then by the time all of that was done it was time to go back to the hotel and get ready.

I wore this long black one shoulder dress with a small split on the side with white 3inch hills and I had a red handbag to go with it. I went with a smokey eye makeup look and red lipstick. Jax wore a red suit with a white button up shirt and a black tie with shiny black shoes. We looked like a power couple. Luckily the venue was right next door to the hotel so we ended up walking. There was a red carpet laid out in front of the entrance and there were paparazzi. I was confused and I looked at Jax and said, "Your dad is that famous businessman?" Jax looked at me and chuckled, "Do you not know my last name? It's Evans. You know the famous software tech company that has branched into fashion, homestyle, gaming, and we even have production studios."  I looked at him dumbfounded because I never thought he was that rich. No wonder that Kate's dad is trying to get them together. I was also nervous about what if people started to call me gold-digger because I know how people can tell that my parents left me and came back. My grandma only works at an airport. I kept having racing thoughts. Jax saw my uneasiness and he said, "Do not worry. I know you aren't a gold digger. Yes, other people may call you that. Also the media will make you out to be the poorest girl on earth. But the media likes to exaggerate, do not let them get to you ok?" I nodded and took his arm and walked with my head up swiftly and fastly while the paparazzi screamed with questions, "Jax Evans is that your girlfriend?" "Is she one of Evans INC partners' daughters?" "What is her name?"

Once we got in we got some refreshments and Jax took me and I met some of his business partners. Then I see Kate's dad and Kate to my surprise in the corner of the big ball room. Jax walked over there and said, "Hello Mr. Paxton, nice to meet you here. I know you have met my girlfriend Jenny." Mr. Paxton smiled and said, "Yes I did, and I believe you both go to school with my Kate also." I was confused for a min because I thought I told Mr. Paxton that. I guess with him being a big business man it's easy to forget very small details. I replied, "Yes she does and she is actually my co-captain on the cheer team." Mr. Paxton started to say, "So Jenny what do your parents do?" I knew that Mr. Paxton knows my situation because Jax said that he did a background check. So I know he is just trying to intimidate me, which isn't working. I just said with a snarky attitude, "Oh I think you know. After all, you did a background check on me." I turned to Jax, "Honey let's go sit down and eat. Unless you have more matters to talk with to Mr. Paxton." Jax smiled and replied, "Yes let's do that but first. Mr Paxton please stop trying to set me up with your daughter. I am not interested and my dad isn't interested because I think we both know why." Jax and I walked away and spent the rest of the night eating and dancing. Around 12am we decided to turn back to the hotel. Once we got into the hotel we got into our pjs and talked,kissed, and cuddled. We finally fell asleep around 2am.
