20. I Can't Lose You Again

''I have to find Benjen.'' Donna rasped

''Go. Be in love.'' Stephen agreed

''I will see you again stephen.'' Donna assured.

''I know you will.'' He hugged her tight. ''Go save your man.'' Donna opened a portal stepping through and she was covered in a haze of white snow

Donna squinted through the flurry of white snow.

''Benjen? Benjen!'' She called out her feet sluggish as she moved through the snow. ''Benjen are you here! Benjen!''

Then she saw a dragon swooping down fire blazed around her.

''Fucking hell!'' Donna ducked down covering her head as she tried to avoid the flames.

''Jon!'' Danaerys reached out a hand for him but he refused. ''Jon!'

'Benjen?'' Donna shouted. It was a blizzard around her as she looked around squinting through the haze of light and darkness the swirls of snow flurrying through her vision.

'Is that their King?'' Donna asked herself as she saw a man, not a man a monster at the top of the cliff.

"Donna?" Benjen questioned sending Jon off.

"BENJEN!" Her bones felt frozen as she ran to him. He sliced down walkers as she slide across the ice, this all felt to familiar. She wasn't about to lose him again. "Is that the king?" she questioned hugging him quickly.

"You are alive!"

"Focus then kiss me." Donna instructed as he stabbed another one.

''It is'' he agreed ''if we kill him the rest fall down.''

''Well then that makes it simple.'' she started to walk away but he reached her hand stopping her

''These things can't be killed by just anything you need a special blade.' he informed her

''You don't happen to have that special blade on you do you?'' His hand went to his hip

''I think I can make a portal get up there Stephen taught me a thing or two. I can get behind him kill him before he ever even knows that I'm there.''

''It's too dangerous'' Benjen countered stabbing another.

''I have lost you 1 million times in 1 million different worlds no more Starks die.'' Donna told him confidently.

''How are you feeling?'' Wong asked at Karma Taj

'' Why do you ask?'' Stephen countered

''You used the Darkhold to dreamwalk into your own corpse.'' Wong reminded him

''Oh. Yeah, right, uh... I'm fine. But I do wanna ask you something. Are you happy?''

'' That's a... interesting question.'' Wong retorted

''You'd think that saving the world would get you there, but... It doesn't.''

''Sometimes, I do wonder... of my other lives. Yet I remain grateful in this one. Even with each tribulations.'' Wong told him. "Where is Donna?'

"She went to save her man." Stephen told him but if history was any indication Stephen strange never got Christine Palmer and Donna lost Benjen stark every time.

It worked. Donna got them up and Benjen stabbed the king but not before the Night king drove his own blade into Benjen's stomach, the army crumbled and Benjen fell back into Donna's arms.

''No, no, no, no!'' Donna screamed out. 'I can't lose you again I can't,'' she sobbed out.'' Just hold on. Just hold on.'' Benjen blinked back at her his vision hazy. ''I'm going to save you.'' Donna whimpered. ''I'm not losing you again.'' She opened a portal dragging Benjen through.

''Stephen!'' Donna sobbed

''Donna- what happened?''

''White walkers. Fix him.'' Donna begged. ''Save him.'' She sobbed. ''Please Stephen.''

''Alright I got him.'' Stephen assured. Donna wiped at her tears her hands soaked in Benjens blood it smeared across her face.

''Dont let him die''. Donna whimpered. ''I can't lose him again. I can't.... Please Stephen not again. Not after everything. I can't lose him.''

''Welcome back.'' Donna whispered kissing Benjens forehead.

''Donna... whats going on?' His voice was raspy and weak as she helped him sit up and offered him some water.

''You were attacked. White walkers.'' Donna remarked. Benjen nodded slowly his hands moving to his bandaged torso. 'You killed the night king... but I wasnt quick enough.'' Donna remarked ''-but I brought back here and Stephen fixed you up. He is surgeon." Donna told him. ''You are going to be fine.''

''Jon... my nephew... ''

''Last I saw he was riding off. You saved him. You almost died but you saved him.'' Donna whispered.

''I've seen my deaths before.'' Benjen remarked. ''Other mes and you.'' Benjen recalled.

''You were always trying to save someone.'' Donna agreed. ''Sometimes it seemed like bad luck but then thinking back to the full day each of you died you were always a hero. Always putting others first. Its what drew me to you.'' Donna admitted. ''You saved me that first day when I was just a little kid and my world had been flipped upside down. You kept saving me and I thought it was about time I repaid the favor.'' she chuckled.

''I love you Donna Strange.'' Benjen whispered bringing her lips to his.
