POV Pete:
I knew that something was wrong when Macau crashed into the glass door between kitchen and garden. A loud and ugly sound announced the crack that appeared on the door in the next second. But the broken glass was not the thing that shocked me the most - it was Macau's face, terrified and angry.
I opened the door, and Macau nearly slapped my face with a bunch of papers, maybe a dozen pages that looked like ripped out of a book. "They killed me, Pete, they killed me!" For a moment, I was just confused. What was he talking about? "Look at this, Pete, I can't believe it!" He needed a moment to find what he was searching for, then he started to read.
"This is something I say there: Forgive me, brother, I didn't want to go away and leave you alone, but this pain won't let me live. They say that when you die your soul rests and there is no more pain. I wanted to feel that. Every day I was in pain, a person can't live in pain, that's not life. I was so happy seeing them, Pete made me feel loved and needed. I would have liked to stay with him, but he has you and you love him with all your might. Please take care of him. Venice arrived and everything was in chaos, but we still knew how to handle it. However my pain is so great that i can't stand it anymore. Excuse me??" Macau looked like he was about to cry.
I stared at the pages in disbelieve. This was the new book? God, they really hated us.
When Kinn and Porsche married, a couple came to the party. We didn't know them, but there were hundreds of guests that we didn't know - it was really a big wedding. They introduced themselves as authors, and they seemed really interested in our story. Vegas and Kinn both marrying bodyguards was something really unusual, and they were sure we had an interesting history.
We all were not sober anymore, and they seemed nice, so we started to talk about everything. The more we told them, the more excited they became, and they begged Kinn to allow them making a novel out of this. Kinn agreed to meet them again.
In the following weeks, they talked to all of us personally, asked for our version of the story, about our point of view. To be honest - I didn't really like them, but I didn't want to say anything, because Porsche was really excited about all of this. Vegas struggled way more than I did, and then he had enough - I don't know what happened, but Yok was not allowed to come to our house ever again. I still talked to them a bit, but not as much as before.
It needed more than a year until they were ready, at least this was what they said - because they broke the contract to let us read the story before publishing it. And this was when the real problem began.
Not just the fact how much unnecessary drama they added, this was just a bit weird; especially when they made Porsche's mom Kinn's step aunt - I don't know how they got THAT idea, but that didn't harm anyone. No, the real problem was the influence of their personal view.
The less they liked someone, the worse he was presented. Porsche was obviously their favorite, because he appeared pretty cool and easy, and he barely did something wrong; our friendship was presented as real soulmatehood. Tankhun was presented way more crazy than he is, they kind of presented him as a freak - but the worst was Vegas.
They added every single bad detail about his poor childhood they could find and made it even worse, they described him as an awful person in general and made him a sexual abuser in an amount that took my breath away. I mean, it was true that he held me captive, but he didn't touch me against my will - he threatened me a lot and had fun with my fear about it, but he never did, and he never really planned to.
The further the book went, the less it was based on the reality, and it left us all pissed - as pissed as Elizabeth and Sebastian in the story; another detail that never happened.
When Vegas read the book, he sent them a few ugly messages that even I found extreme. He knew that he couldn't harm them physically, Kinn didn't want anyone to realise that this was not just fiction - and the authors being killed would be a big hint - but he also tried to contact them and asked what the heck they did.
The only answer we got was the Vegaspete side story, the one where Vegas showed up as the worst dick again and even cheated on me - this thing was based on fiction completely. That was everything.
And then, out of the sudden, there was this advertisement for a new novel. A second part. They already published it when we found out, and the printed version was out today - Macau got one of the first books. And it seemed like they made everything even worse.
I called Vegas first and told him to come home immediately, then I called Porsche. We planned to both read the novel right now and then talk about everything this evening. Macau bought a book for me and Vegas too, and the more I read, the wider my eyes became. This was not a novel, this was a personal revenge for our bad feedback.
Kinn had told them in a letter that the first book was so far from reality, they might as well have Kinn trying to kill Porsche right away - and this was what they wrote now.
Kim complained about the disgusting amount of sexual abuse they invented out of nowhere, and in this book, he was a sexual abuser himself.
It was not surprising that Vegas was fucked up again, but I didn't expect them to make him shoot me...
And Macau, who wrote them that they should go kill themselves after how they presented his family, killed himself in the novel.
When I finished the book, I felt sick. I wanted to throw up, right in their faces. And I swore to myself in this moment: They would not just get away with this again. It was enough, it was time to hit back.
It was time for revenge.
