I pick her up and I hold her she buries her face in my neck and I rub her back and try to calm her. I get her calmed down after awhile and she falls asleep in my arms. I lay her down and I tuck her in and I cover her up. I walk out and I make a few phone calls.

A couple days later

I'm walking in and the table is filled with food. I hear my sister laughing I go further in and my mom is getting cookies out the oven. I say what are you guys doing here? My mom says we came to check on you and we met your girlfriend. I say she's not my girlfriend I haven't uh asked her yet. My sister says Do you sleep together? I say yes she says Does she cook for you everyday and take your shit to the dry cleaners? I say yes she says does she do your laundry and make sure the house is clean? I say she does she says then she's your girlfriend you need to be thinking about putting a ring on it. Women aren't domesticated anymore Vince she's perfect for you. That's when she comes into view. I don't know why but I get so happy. We all sit and she makes my plate and she goes to get me a glass of scotch. My mother hums in acceptance I can't help but roll my eyes at them. I say where's my father? She says he's out fucking his mistress again. We start eating and once we're done she clears my plate and hers first. My mom gets up to help her and my sister stays.
