We receive a piece of mail from a Vegas hospital and tear it open. I call everyone over except Derek and we crowd in the living room in anticipation. I push the disk in and smile seeing Nikki's face.
"Hey guys, let's give a big welcome to Erica Jean Hale. I didn't mean to leave the way I did but just know I love you and still think about you every day..." She blows us a kiss at the end.
I hear sniffling from mom when she hears Nicole say it should've been her bringing Erica into this world. I begin to cry myself. The baby is beautiful and Nikki looks gorgeous as always. Isaac and Peter are smiling in adoration and then the front door creaks open. We turn off the TV. It's Derek and Jackson.
"What's up?" Derek asks noticing how erratic we are.
"Nothing, just watching tv." Stiles shrugs even though the tv is off.
"We just came to take Isaac and Peter to the new bachelor pad. I have the loft space along with the rest of the pack." Jackson smirks biting back a slick remark.
I open my mouth to say something, but the answering machine interrupts me.
"Leave a message for the Stilinski Family after the beep." The automated voice repeats our custom aged message.
"I'm sorry to call. I need Nurse Stilinski's help. My baby won't latch onto the aureola." Nicole's voice is hoarse and strained, "I would love if she could return this call. Tell me if you got the video. Love you." The energy in the room intensifies.
Derek is shaking and we move towards him slowly.
"Was that?" He starts.
"It is a transfer patient." Mom sighs holding his hand.
"We miss her too, she was my baby girl. I'd let you know if we heard anything from her. Okay?" She hugs Derek shedding a couple tears.
"I remember when I first met her and called her babydoll. In the hospital bed, so beautifully broken and I knew, she was the one." He reminisces as if it'll erase him cheating on her.
"I'll make sure to let you know if we get calls or anything. She may not want to talk to you, but you can listen if her voice soothes you." My mom smiles.
He nods and then Stiles turns on the TV. Luckily, the video is over when he does. Derek's pack clears out and we return the call, as a family.
"Hey babygirl!" My mom beams.
"I miss you so much!" Stiles outbursts.
"How's Vegas?" My dad grins with pride.
"Let her speak." I hiss inadvertently.
"Thanks Scotty. Hi mommy, I miss you all so much, and Vegas is great. My home is done being built so when I get out of the hospital, I can move in immediately. I met some people who are like family to me already." She replies.
"We love you." We say in unison.
"Me and Erica Jean love you more." She laughs.
I can now hear suckling. A small wail escapes the baby's mouth and she soothes it instantly.
"You're gonna be a great mother." I nod proudly.
"Thanks, I can't wait until we can video chat." She whispers.
"Tell Erica Jean we love her, you get some sleep." My mom whispers.
"We love you too." She hangs up.
After crying, we all get ready for bed and just relax.
