The little star

Once upon a time on the night sky
There was a little shining star,
Bright, sparkling and quite shy
The one you couldn't see from afar.

If you looked, you wouldn't find a day,
When he'd stay in his meant place
When the star didn't try to get away
To follow his peers, out in space.

He watched and was left to wonder,
Could he ever shine as bright?
Just like those stars, who don't ponder
When they shed their light.

Compared to their bright smile
What had his light ever been?
The little star tried to outshine
Yet he was always left unseen.

Until one day, the sun finally set,
The tiny star again was left to think.
He wondered how bright he could get.
He gazed, and then he felt it sink.

"I want to be shimmering, glimmering
Bright enough for that they'll see me,
They'll giggle and smile while saying-
Look at how big that tiny star can be"

The little star again was brightening up.
He knew he had failed in the past,
But he was yet not ready to give up.
If he did again, it would be his last.

You'd think the tiny star would shine,
Reach his light up in the sky as he thought,
But as he opened his eyes to realise:
He was never even good enough.

The little star's heart, sank to the pit.
He sat watching others experience freedom
He hoped he would feel, at least for a bit
And no longer felt his time would come.

The tiny star final closed his eyes,
Staying in his given place at last.
He didn't want to believe his own lies
It would make him die down fast.

The little star stayed there for long
He didn't have anywhere else to go,
Not a place where he felt he belonged
And there was no one that would know.

The little star had failed himself at last,
Soon his light would fully ware off
He didn't feel like a star as once in the past
So they called him the brown dwarf.
