"I hate law enforcement." Jae huffed out, his hands resting in his hoodie's pocket.

He was currently standing in front of the Jungjin Police Station, Mo-tak by his side. To say he wasn't a little scared of the place would be an understatement. After all, it wasn't his first time being here. He spent a lot of time coming in and out due to altercations in his teens. From high school seniors to using his martial arts knowledge on criminals, he never caught a break.

Of course, he had his reasons. He was a good kid, he just always barked up the wrong tree when it wasn't his problem.

Mo-tak sighed and nudged Jae on his arm before walking towards the entrance. "Let's head in." Jae was quick to follow.

"Can I ask you a question?" It was Mo-tak who had asked, his pace becoming a light walk. "Why did you end up here?"

"Hm?" Jae hummed out confused.

"With the team, I mean." He kept looking straight, but Jae could tell he was holding back even more questions.

"Wi-gen," Jae stated bluntly. He remembered the meeting he had with the elders. He had been working a lot of cases lately and he was pretty underprepared to be part of a team again. Wi-gen's words popped up into his head, Just until I can sort things out. He wondered when that would be and a part of him, a small part, wished it wouldn't be soon. He was beginning to like it at the noodle shop.

Mo-tak gave a quick look at the other, his left eyebrow raised in question. He could have given a better explanation. After all, they're going to be together for a while.

"Obviously." He scoffed out, sticking his hands in his jean pockets. "I meant why did you agree to help us? You must have your own district to worry about."

"What, don't want me here?" Jae responded in a hurt voice, trying to hide his smile as he played pretend. He threw a hand over his chest. "You wound me."

Mo-tak chuckled, his smile quickly replaced with a frown. "Speaking of wounds, how are you doing?" He quickly continued, "You never asked Mae-ok to help you heal the other night."

The question caught Jae off guard, not expecting anyone to ask about something so small. He tilted his head to look at Tak, his eyes bigger than before. "Aah. I'm alright, don't worry about me." He paused before continuing. "Plus, I'm sure Mae-ok was already pretty-"

Before Jae could even process his next words, a hand stopped him from walking. His sweater was lightly grasped and Mo-tak had abruptly stopped. When Jae looked at him, his forehead was creased and his eyebrows furrowed- a sign he was concerned.

"You're part of the team now, Jae," he said with reassurance. "You can count on us if you need anything. Consider us friends, all of us." He patted Jae on the arm, keeping eye level with him.
