(Prefacing this with; if you want to have a female character, I will not stop you as long as you make up a reasonably believable story about how a girl got into an all boys' school.)
The time is the 1940s, and the setting is the Northern area of the UK. The UK will play a role in the creation of the Truman Doctrine, putting them into an anti-communist mindset. Due to this being a post-wartime era the country is also still very Christian.
The Maranatha Christian Academy is a Boys' Public School (for any fellow 'Mericans public schools in Britain are the rich uniform ones). There is a hierarchy that follows like such: Headmaster, Housemasters, Pops, Prefects, Seniors, Juniors.
Headmaster - Man in control of the school
Housemasters - Male teachers in charge of a dormitory
Pops - Elite prefects, usually the ones in charge of the big decisions (which can and does include dishing out punishment in order to keep students in line)
Prefects - Seniors with higher authorization and the ability to enforce the rules, though they mainly care for Juniors
Seniors - Older students
Juniors - Youngers studentsThe Maranatha Academy is split up into 5 houses (if anyone says one thing about Harry Potter I am going to cry)

Colors - Red and BlackReputation - The reputation of St. Augustine is nothing to scoff at. The house consistently produces some of the world’s most influential politicians and celebrities. The house is strict but fair, and those that come from it are known to be well-adjusted adults. Around the campus, those in the house are thought to be from the richest families. Due to their superiority, many houses feel quite a deep-rooted disliking, and yet, even with all other houses against them, somehow the house still stands on top. It is clear to anyone that the St. Augustine house has been blessed by God himself, and those lucky enough to be placed into it, might find themselves with the same blessing.
