The second letter

Hello, my darling, it has been a while, hasn't it? A month to be precise. I apologize for not writing, I have been busy monitoring the volcano. I suppose you will want to know how things are going dearest. The bulge has been growing, I must admit I am concerned about it.

I have recently recorded frequent, large earthquakes. I should like to consult my team; however, it appears they will not show up during this expedition. I will admit that I am concerned, but I can't be hasty in evacuating the area; the locals seem wary of me as it is. I can't afford to blow the whistle too soon should nothing come of it.

As I write this letter the volcano has appeared to begin steaming. I fear things will turn for the worst.

With all my love,

Professor James D. Arnold
