"Isabella Ceraso has invited us to dinner."
Hayden remained silent on the other end of the line, his car's blinker indicating he was making a turn while still on the phone.
"Let me guess, you're going to go?"
I grin, rummaging through multiple dresses and undergarments to match the outfit choices. "I sure am, Hades. And do you know what I have planned?"
"Nothing?"
I scowl at his response, pausing my hands in mid-air. "No," I sigh deeply, plopping myself onto the floor as I think exasperated. "I have a plan but it's incredibly risky."
It's been nearly two weeks, and Silver was supposed to return home in two days. Unfortunately, due to both of us being extremely busy, we haven't been able to talk on the phone as much this second week. And by the time he had the opportunity to speak, I was either asleep or when I was able to talk he'd be in a meeting.
There was no getting around it. Despite this, we messaged frequently.
"And what is this risky plan?"
Biting down on my lip, my heart races with anxiety.
"Well, it involves sneaking up into the offices and rummaging through paperwork or files until I end up finding something to hold against them."
"You're going through with what I advised you?" He scoffs, "Shocker, huh?"
Right now, if we were in person, I would have backhanded him over the head—harshly.
Ignoring his comment, I settle with a dress shorter than my stubby legs—considering if this would be too short.
"Heard nothing from lover boy?"
Hayden was able to ask Switch a few questions about the Ceraso's on my behalf, though Switch appeared to be just out of the picture as we were.
"Nothing important," I hear him shift, muffling in the background as the sound of a car blowing its horn erupts through the other end. "You dick! The light was orange, it doesn't mean red!"
Rolling my eyes, I always forget he has car rage—especially when he's driving alone.
"I think I'm set on this super short dress, it might be too short though," I stand in front of my mirror, holding it up to my towelled body. The dress was all-black, short and summer-ish. It started with spaghetti straps and ended an inch above mid-thigh.
"Nothing is ever too short, Pooh Bear. Just send a pic through and I'll let you know."
Grumbling softly, I tap the phone onto speaker and begin to slip into the dress.
