Before you read this, please know that this book is currently being rewritten, and so the story of this book is not completely finished - I am currently rewriting this book - which you can find on my profile if you want to check that out.

This book is also kinda terrible in terms of plot and overall continuity, updates will be given on the new book, but it will probably only be completed in 2023 (as I want to change the storyline to what happens after season 2)

Hope you can enjoy this a little

Things have been rough over the Christmas holidays - people always say that the hardest times, after loosing a close relative, are during the holidays, although Wilhelm had never really believed them until now.

His parents had tried to make Christmas a happy time for their family, but even with dozens of cousins, aunts, and uncles filling up the empty spaces of the palace, they could never fill the large and empty hole that Erik left in their hearts.

Of course, they tried to pretend like he was still there - carry on as if the tragedy of his death hadn't happened only a few months prior, but everyone who had been present, was waiting for the moment that the happy façade that the family put on would come to an end.

The moment that caused the most people to break during the early stages of the family dinner that the royals had hosted at the palace on Christmas Eve was when one of their cousins, who had just turned 4 years old, asked about Erik, and it's safe to assume that at her age, she didn't understand the concept of death. Unfortunately, that hadn't make the situation any easier to deal with. She tugged on the Queen's arm and asked when Erik would be arriving for his meal - as she had noticed that the food was getting cold. All eyes seemed to turn to the Queen in an instant, waiting for her to yell at the small girl for ruining the dinner by mentioning the son she desperately wanted to be sat next to her. The Queen simply explained that Erik wouldn't be at dinner, and although that answer sent the little girl on her way, the tension in the dining hall seemed to grow thicker by the second.

Wilhelm had to excuse himself after a few minutes, as the air that was currently stuck in his chest made it harder to breathe by the second, as he fought back tears.

He walked around the palace, hoping to find a small space that would help him escape the dinner and the memory of Erik, who's death was still an open wound on the young boys heart. It seemed hopeless, as everywhere He turned, memories would pop up of all the mischief that he and his brother had gotten into, which made him think more about him and how much He felt like he truly needed his brother in his life.

It lead hun to think about everyone else in his life that he knew he couldn't live without, yet, what stuck in his mind was the fact that none of them were there with him, as He broke apart from the seams of his recently broken life.

He couldn't help but blame August for his past tragedies, as August was supposed to protect him, he was trusted by his Erik to help in every situation, but he never did. In Wilhelm's mind August ruined everything that Erik had built for Wilhelm, and he didn't know if he could ever change that fact.

His mind trailed to the night that he found out about his second cousins true nature toward him. Felice was a good friend, she helped Wilhelm to see the real person that he unknowingly put all his trust into, without her, August would've been seen as someone who was completely innocent in his eyes. Wilhelm would've financially helped him, thinking he deserved it, and now, He desperately wished He had never told my mother about August's situation.

His only wish was to go back in time, so he could tell himself to not let down his guard so easily, as it would've spared so many people the heartbreak.
