Pillow Fight

It has been a couple of days since the night with Lando and Y/n, and the Mclaren team have flown out to the Netherlands. Y/n and Daniel have spoken about the whole situation, and he accepts her decision. It wasn't the one he had hoped for, but he ultimately supported her. They're still extremely close; he'd much rather have her as a friend than not have her. 

Lando and Y/n, on the other hand, are working through things, they have yet to go on their date, but today is Thursday, media day. This means a shorter day for the team, and Y/n and Lando can leave and go out for dinner together. Also, she didn't have to go to the track today, as she could work from the hotel, in her own room this time, and work on things based back at the MTC. Most of the duties involving the MTC are done by the other HR employees working there, but Y/n does the most important tasks from wherever she is in the world as she makes sure the team runs smoothly from track to track.

As it's nearing 5 pm, she closes her laptop and begins to get ready for the date. But, she must admit, she's pretty nervous—their first official date with no lies involved. As she begins to cover those lingering hickeys in makeup, she hears a knock on her door. "Oh, hell no. Surely he's not here yet; it's way too early," she sighs, still not out of her robe yet. As she opens the door, she sees Daniel.

"Danny! What are you doing here?" she shouts excitedly as she pulls him into a hug. "Just come to see my favourite person get ready for her date with my best friend." There's a little sadness in his voice, but there are no hard feelings. He's moving past it. "Oh good, you can help me choose what to wear."

They spend the next hour or so picking out an outfit, laughing, and enjoying each other's company. She had always loved his company, and she was glad that nothing had changed between the two. They ended up picking a lovely black dress out. 

By the time 7 pm comes,  Lando is knocking on the door. "Do I look okay?" she asks Danny nervously. "Y/n, you look beautiful, and Lando will think so too. Don't keep him waiting." She answers the door with a massive smile as he hands her flowers. "Wow," is all he could let fall out of his mouth. His mouth was unable to close. Daniel laughs and shoos them off as he takes the flowers from Y/n and puts them into water. 

They arrive at the restaurant, and as the gentleman he is, Lando opens the door for her and pulls out her seat. Lando is pulling out all the cards to make it up to her tonight, and after dinner, he has another special surprise for her. They talk more about their families during the dinner, and Y/n tells Lando about Abby and how she will stay with her during their breaks away from traveling. 

After the dinner, Lando had planned a little boat ride through the canals in Amsterdam. The lights in the city at night were so beautiful, and Y/n was in awe. She's pleased with how Lando is tonight; he's doing everything perfectly, making sure she's happy and comfortable and not doing anything that may upset her. "Lando, this is amazing; seriously, thank you so much for this." Lando places a soft kiss on her forehead, but she pulls him into a long kiss instead. "Y/n, despite everything that happened between us, I think I'm falling for you. The first thing I think about in the morning is you, and you're the last thing I think about before falling asleep. You're everything I've ever wanted, and I'm so sorry for how things started."

Y/n blushes in response to his words, "Lando, stop apologising now; it's in the past. You made a dumb mistake, but I will no longer hold it against you. I'm giving you a second chance, and I never do more than that, so don't make another mistake," she laughs to lighten the mood a little. As they disembark the boat, they hold each other's hands. It's a nice little gesture, making her feel warm inside. 

"Do you want to stay in my room tonight?" she suggests to him. He's surprised by the offer, but since she's the one doing it, and he wants to go at her pace, he happily accepts by nodding his head. They stop as he pulls her into another hug and places yet another kiss on her forehead. "Thank you for forgiving me; I won't blow this chance."

They return to his car to return to the hotel, both buzzing from the night they had. When they get home, she walks into her bathroom to get changed while Lando crashes on her bed. Coming out of the bathroom, she realises that he doesn't have a spare pair of clothes, so she rushes to her suitcase, grabs some things, and chucks them toward him.

"These are mine? How do you have them?" he asks, holding a pair of tracksuit pants and a white t-shirt. Y/n awkwardly stands there and laughs at his question, "Oh umm I, umm, I took them when I was staying with you." Lando's heart is beating a thousand times a minute; the fact that she took HIS clothes without him knowing made him feel butterflies in the pit of his stomach. "You could've just asked; you didn't have to steal them," he chokes back a laugh as he gets changed. 

Embarrassed enough, she jumps into the bed and covers her face. Holding back his laughter, he follows her and smothers her in kisses. He begins tickling her, making her giggle uncontrollably. She grabs the closest pillow to her and starts a pillow fight with him. She loves these moments when they can have fun and not care about what anyone else thinks.
