It all happened so fast, but with Pietro that was to be expected, everything is fast for him.

All he saw was that man, the one he'd teased earlier, protecting a small child, and the man was seconds from Death.

Pietro didn't even think, he just sprung into action, he zoomed over and upturned a car for a shield, to protect the man and the boy, almost instantly he felt intense pain everywhere.

Those bullets intending to kill the expecting father and the little boy, had pierced him instead.

"I did not see that coming." His dying breath whispered as he collapse in a heap beside the two people he'd just saved, his eyes open an unseeing and his breath gone.

After returning the boy to his sobbing mother, Hawkeye returned to the body of the young man who'd given his life to protect him, the comm in hiss ear was buzzing with noise, grunts from the fighting avengers or instructions from someone on the outside.

He ignored the noise, and bent down, picking up the body of his fallen comrade and carrying him to the escape pod, the least this man deserved was a decent funeral.

He laid him on the ground, and ran his fingers over the eyes to close them, then he laid down on the chairs and rested, exhausted from the day's events, and shaken by the very narrow escape from death, that the young fighter beside him missed.

Back on the hellicarrier, Nick Fury immediately had Peirtro's body collected by doctors, probably interested in the experimential value.

Clint was sickened by this, and wanted to say something but a sharp look from Maria Hill changed his mind, he stepped aside ad dialled his wife's phone number.

"Clint!" She exclaimed.

"Laura, honey?" He sighed in relief. "Are you okay? The kids? The baby?"

"We're fine, baby where are you, it's on the news, are you okay?!" Laura was frantic.

"I'm okay, I'm fine, I'm okay." He was so happy to hear her voice. "I have to go, they're going to need help treating the evacuees, I love you, honey, tell the kids I'll be home soon." They said goodbye and Clint went off to help administer first aid to the injured survivors.

Somewhere else, deep in a hidden room on the hellicarrier a team of doctors worked rapidly to repair the damage to the body of Piertro, who was trying to heal himself.
