"A fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time."
-Mark TwainWake up.
Just wake up.
Wake up and attempt to get up.
My laziness was the thing that was killing me from doing anything productive, such as school. No one in today's society wants to wake up so early feeling like some sort of zombie, right? So what's the point of getting up so damn early when I can get ready in 10 easy minutes? Exactly. It all depends in on how long someone can get ready, ranging from 10 minutes to an hour and a half.
The alarm read 7:30, so I'll have motivation to get up by 8:05. I stayed laying down in bed with droopy eyes as I rolled all around over the bed, groaning and complaining and pondering whether to scroll through my phone, or get my ass up and be productive for once. I was able to do the second part cause' of my own fault of tumbling to the floor.
I groaned even more and decided to wake up, even thought it was only 7:55. I could've messed around for 10 more minutes! I pulled my shorts off and threw on a pair of tight jeans and a black long-sleeve as I look at the mirror. Same shaggy brown hair, same green eyes, same annoying freckles, with the list continuing.
I walked out of the room, scratching my head as I didn't get the hint of my regular ol' eggs and cornbeef that my mother usually cooks. I walked all around the house seeing if my parents were awake, but weren't and noticed my sister, Quill wasn't up for school either, but I'd rather not wake her and ruin her "beauty sleep". She was a freshman and pretty much looked like me, besides all the curves, long hair and the fact she's the only one who doesn't have freckles on her face.
I quickly made myself toast and a cup of coffee and headed out to walk myself to school, having the perks of living a few blocks away from it.
I slowly jogged up in front of the school building, seeing the big bolded red words saying "RIDGE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL" with smaller font right under it "Home Of The Panthers." I yawned then slowly dragged myself through the doors, seeing freshmans through seniors walk all around like zombies, which is pretty much what I said before.
I'm a junior who is totally unprepared for being a senior. I mean, what do you do on the last year of highschool? Celebrate as you do more difficult homework while trying to apply for college? Seems like a pain in the ass to me. Being a junior isn't so bad as being a freshman though. As a freshman, you meet or see new people you've never seen ever in your life and the homework is more challenging than anything you've done in junior high. Wonder why the first years of a person's high school is called a 'freshman?' You're fresh meat to the seniors. Congratulations for coming into high school! You get nine months of pranks by our seniors, how do you feel? Sounds like the only thing as a senior are the pranks and graduation. Must be a cruel year for Quill.
The first thing I noticed was how quiet the hallways were. It isn't usually like that with hundreds of kids messing around or rushing to finish an assignment or just being unnecessarily loud. I shrugged and continued walking to class.
My first class was Chemistry, one of the most boring classes ever that can easily put me to sleep. When I walked in, I felt a solemn surrounding as everyone looked completely down. It was unusual, no one looked at me when I walked in, which was common with whoever walks through a door. I sat near a group of guys I didn't really know to see if I could get anything from the low mumbling.
"Hey did you hear what happened to him?"
"Yeah, man. He was such a great guy."
"You didn't even know shit about him, Lucas."
