"Because he's like us?"
Scott averted his gaze from Derek's. He had to choose his next words carefully, who knew what Derek would think or do if he found out Scott's secret.
Scott was pretty sure not even Stiles knew.
Scott stared into the scratched up freezer with a frown on his face. He couldn't believe Isaac had been going through all of this and no one had even noticed, or cared in Jacksons situation. It made a lot of sense to Scott now. He and Isaac used to talk, short conversations, small talk. But one day Isaac had just stopped. Scott had tried to talk to him but Isaacs legs were a lot longer and he easily got away. Scott had then tried to corner him but Isaac was a lot taller and easily pushed passed Scott's smaller frame. He avoided Scott until he had gotten the message and left him alone.
Scott had assumed that Isaac had found out his secret until he had noticed some bruises on the taller boy. But whenever he tried to confront Isaac, he had run away as usual.
Scott wished now that he had tried harder.
Scott had always had a thing for Isaac. Ever since they were kids.
Scott never said anything about it because, well Isaac is a boy.
His father had implied to him the wrongness of liking men. Small comments when watching movies or tv. Scott could pick up on the small scoffs whenever a gay couple appeared on screen. He kept his crush on Isaac to himself.
But there was just something about the other boy that Scott couldn't ignore, couldn't push down. He was sweet and kind and tall. Scott could have nice conversations with him about comics. Not to mention that as they grew older, Isaac had become extremely handsome. Sometimes Scott would watch him in a way he thought was subtle.
Scott looked back to Derek, trying to mask his emotions from the alpha. He couldn't tell if he was successful in doing so. He didn't know if Derek's eyebrow was raised mockingly or in wait of his answer.
"Because he's innocent."
