Metrocity is like a garden
"I was out for four hours?" I shouted, the voice echoes inside the elevator.
Cleo used her hands to block it for her ear, and Kane who was standing still never seem to mind. "Keep your voice down, you idiot. We don't want to get caught!"
Kane's head rotated for a whole 180, his left cheeks facing Cleo. "The tubes are soundproofs. No one can even hear even the slightest groan in here."
I forgot the elevators were called tubes, not that I completely forgotten about it, but the way some of the flocks would rename things that were particularly obvious are annoying and a waste of time. My dad showed me the ropes about all things considered. He remembers it like yesterday. Looking at it now, it feels like maybe the whole fifty years never happened and we just got here.
Cleo finished swooning to Kane, every time he made a move or even talk, her eyes would flutter sending butterflies to her stomach. "Anyway, back to you. Yes, you've been out for four hours, enough time for the tincans to hack your brother. Your four minutes version in the story won't amount to that type. I mean, he's almost completely different. And trust me, I've been waiting outside the prison cell for that."
It was Kane who interrupted. "Tincans, what's that?"
I was about to say it to him but for god's sake, Cleo is falling over heels right now. "It's the name Troy gave the automatons. He thinks its appropriate since that's all there is with their faulty design." She explained.
Kane just nodded, then I also talked to explain a few things more. "It's just an insult I came up with. At the end of the day, they're just machines."
Kane smiled to me as if he just found it amusing. I could feel Cleo glaring at me with her bloodshot eyes. He's not getting enough attention with Kane, and I'm thinking she thinks I'm overshadowing her. I still don't understand what made him be friendly and all. It's not common for an upper level citizen to act like this for a lower level like me.
Our ride came to a halt the sooner we heard the DING from the tubes. As the sliding doors opened, we were greeted by the sudden current of air that almost knocked me out called due to how fresh they are and how pure. Unlike the air below and the underground, the air is compressed and heavy. In here, it feels as if they aren't manipulated or controlled. They're as free as a bird. Speaking of birds, I think I saw one that flew above our heads as soon as we exit the tubes.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" I heard Kane muttering under his breath.
I just nodded, I was busy admiring the entire Metrocity and its charms. There's a fucking lake above here? A full-blown garden, flowers that extended as far as my tired eyes can see. The night lights here feel more natural and-organic. I looked for new things and I also see a waterfall towards our left. But my focus swerved when we get to the sort of like center of Metrocity. I could feel the hum of energy currents flowing underneath of what I'm stepping on. I crouched and placed my right ear to hear it, and I could hear more wirings and gears humming to their existence. I don't know why it made me happy but Cleo saw how I made myself smile, so she did to.
"It's wonderful here, wow." Cleo said to Kane.
He nodded, "It's not even the best part." He urges us to follow him, so Cleo dragged my sorry ass away from my last position to follow Kane.
