Another straight girl

Beginning of college

The first day of college starts today and I'm shitting myself, I know I'll have two of my closest friends Isaac and Hudson with me but I'm extremely nervous about meeting new people and who's going to be in my classes, you know just the usual anxiety.

I park in the parking lot and rush over to Isaac and Hudson who are innocently waiting for me by the school entrance.

Isaac is openly gay and has been my best friend since 1st grade, you wouldn't look at him and know he was gay no matter how strong your gaydar is. The only way you'll know is when he opens his mouth.

"Hey sis" he shrieks at me halfway across the parking lot.
My face immediately going red as he's drawn attention to not only himself but me as well.
"Keep your voice down" I say running towards him and Hudson hugging them both.

Hudson joined our group when he was dating Alice and good friend of ours but the three of us grew closer. Alice and Hudson broke up recently as Alice and the rest of our group went to different colleges.

"I've missed you's" I say softly in their arms.
We walk through the halls making our way to the office.
"How's your brother?" Hudson asks curiously.

My demeanour immediately changed as my thoughts run wild.
My twin brother and I have always been really close especially as we've been in and out of foster care. This past summer he enlisted in the army and has been set off for basic combat, I haven't heard a word from him since but I know it can take a while for letters to be sent or calls to be made so I try to keep myself distracted from the thought of it.

"I don't know" I say "haven't heard a word".
He grips my hand tight with a sign of sympathy as we continue to walk to the office where we have to get our dorm numbers and key as we sign in.

We que to the back of the very large line and wait patiently eventually making our way up to the front.

"And what was your name?" The office lady asks.
My gaze shifting as I'm starstruck as an effortlessly gorgeous girl walks in and ques to the back of the line. My heart skipping beats and my mouth bitting my bottom lip briefly before I come back down to earth as the office lady snaps her fingers at me waking me from my daydream.
Isaac and Hudson laughing at the realisation I was staring.

"Uh sorry" I say embarrassed "what was your question?" Annoyed at the constant chuckling going on behind me I nudge Hudson with my elbow to stop them laughing so much.
"What was your name dear?" She asks again.
"Oh Hayden...Hayden Samuelson" I stutter still so embarrassed about how obvious I was staring at a random girl I don't know.
