A few days later, we're discharged from the hospital and I couldn't be more relieved. Being cramped in that room for days on end was draining. After putting the baby in the car, I help Elijah into the passenger seat of car and when he's in, he breathes a breath of relief as I put his seatbelt on.
When I'm done, I ask him, "You alright? Need anything?" before shutting the car door.
"No, I'm fine. Thank you," he replies. "But I'd love for you to take this seatbelt off me."
"Is it hurting your shoulder?" I ask, reaching in to begin unbuckling the seatbelt.
"No. I just don't know why I need it." He smirks at me and I roll my eyes.
"Nice try. You're wearing it."
I give him a sarcastic smile and I lean down to kiss him before closing the door and going to the driver's seat side and getting in. I buckle up, and I make sure he's okay before putting the car in drive and making my way home.
When we get there, I get out and I help Elijah out of the car before I open the back door and grab the baby's car seat and head into the house, holding Elijah's hand and watching him carefully. When we finally get into the house, I close the door and sit the baby in his car seat down before taking off my coat and grabbing Elijah's coat as he takes it off.
"You okay?" I ask him.
"I'm fine. Just a little hungry." he replies, stretching a little.
"Do you need help getting upstairs?"
"Baby, I was shot in my shoulder and stabbed in my back. I think I can manage to walk by myself." he says, laughing. "But thank you." he says before leaning in to kiss me slow.
When he pulls away, he gives me a flirtatious look, his tounge dragging across his lips as a smirk appears on his face.
I roll my eyes. "Recovery is a thing." I say, hanging up our coats on the coat rack and squatting down to unstrap the baby.
"I know. I also have needs." he replies.
"That can be fufilled in a few weeks." I add, picking up the baby and kissing his face.
"Come on, I'm fine." he whines.
"Eli, go shower. Dinner's gonna be ready in a minute."
"Fine." he says, rolling his eyes.
He finally turns around and limps a little going upstairs and I insist on helping him up. I walk over to the staircase with the baby on my hip, and I wrap an arm around Elijah to help him upstairs.
"Leil-"
"Can you accept some help for once in your life?" I interrupt, glaring at him.
He sighs and continues walking upstairs. When we get upstairs to the room, I quickly run to the baby's room to put him in his crib to take a nap while I cook. When I arrive back to the room, Eli sits on the bed and begins to stretch, but grunts in pain, reaching for the wound on his back.
"Damnit." he grunts angrily.
"Let me help you." I say, reaching for his shirt. I take the bottom of his shirt and I pull it over his head as he raises his arms, cursing from the obvious pain. When I get the shirt over his head, he drops his arms and looks at me with a look in his eyes. "What's that about?" I ask with a knowing smirk.
"You're just really fucking attractive when you nurse me." he says, grinning.
"I can't say I don't enjoy this. You're never this vulnerable."
"Well as my wife I guess it's okay for you to see me like this. I like it when you take care of me anyway." he says, grabbing my waist.
"So why don't you let me more often?" I say, walking into his embrace and running my hands over his shoulders and onto his back.
