The sky got worse as Gumball and Rob trekked the Void infested lands.
It has been about an hour since Rob and Gumball left the beach. The two of them, now friends instead of awkward allies, decided to go to the source of the crack, head into it, and hopefully stop whatever was happening within.
Since Gumball was still recovering from the sprain on his leg, Rob opted to carry him by the arm, to which Gumball was very grateful for.
The two of them slowly walked through a once busy city walk, now gone to ruin due to the Void. Shattered buildings, splotches of static, and the occasional dead trend, failed invention, or random mistake floating around here or there, filled the area.
The atmosphere got eerie as Rob and Gumball continued to carefully creep through the streets, making sure not to make too much noise as to not attract any unwanted attention from any corrupted Void creatures. It almost had the same feeling as when the two of them were in the abandoned marketplace. It was barren, desolate, in desperate need of repair, and lonely.
As Rob walked through the streets (while carrying an injured Gumball by the arm no less), be struggled to see. He barely made out what lies ahead due to the disorganized clutter the city became due to the Void, with floating land chunks, broken sidewalks, and collapsed buildings filling Rob's eyesight.
Gumball nudged Rob's side. "Hey, you okay, man?"
Rob groaned. "Gah! I can't see a gosh darn thing on these streets with all this clutter everywhere! We're never gonna properly get to the source of that crack in the sky through a cityblock in this condition!"
Gumball looks to his left and spots an abandoned building adjacent to him and Rob. It didn't look as cluttered as the rest of the streets and looked like a decent place to get a better view of the area around them. "Well, how about we get a better view?" Gumball suggests.
Rob notices the building. He put his hand on his chin in thought. "Huh...you know, that actually is a pretty good idea. Maybe not all your ideas are bad, Gumball." Rob ruffles the fur on Gumball's head.
"Hey, I take offense to that!" Gumball rebutted with a smirk.
"Yeah, whatever." Rob shrugged it off as he and Gumball headed towards the abandoned building to get a better view of their surroundings.
The two of them made it to the enterance of the building. Gumball notices a small sign on the door that read: "Graves' Office Complex. Opening March 2020".
Gumball gently took the sign off the door handle, and Rob pushed the door open, letting him and Gumball inside.
When Rob and Gumball entered the building, they were greeted with a bleak atmosphere. The building didn't look that great on the outside, it was probably the best looking building on the streets, and that wasn't exactly a compliment, but the interiors of the building told an entirely different story.
The interiors were in...poor conditions to put it lightly. The building was filled with nearly broken floorboards, half completed paint jobs, cobwebs in every corner, and generally unfinished architecture.
Only a few portions, like the structure, the staircase, and the walls looked partially finished, but those were practically the bare basics of architecture. The rest of the building looked incomplete, abandoned, and desolate. There was even left over construction equipment lying around the area from toolboxes, dark green tarps, or dark metal scaffolding.
"Wow. This place looked better on the outside." Rob admitted.
"It wasn't exactly a fair competition, Rob. Especially when your competitors are broken and shattered." Gumball replied.
