2 - Mr. Linden's Library

A/N: This is also from the book I discontinued but at least it's something to upload.

Prompt: He had warned her about the book.

Now it was too late.

     Genevieve decided to go to the library; again. Her favorite place was the library... She was there at least everyday. I mean, who wouldn't want to be there? There were a variety of books at Cappacale Library. Fantasy, horror, adventure, sci-fi, and much more. Genevieve went there to get peace and quiet, study, or just to read. The librarian, Mr. Linden, was also very kind. Sometimes he could be a little off about the books she was getting... But, everyone's odd in their own way, right?

     "I'm off to the library, mama!" Genevieve called, heading downstairs and pulling on her favorite coat.

     "Ok dear. Be safe, and come back at 8:30 for dinner!" She was preparing Genevieve's favorite; stuffed shells!

     "Ok! Love you ma, love you gram! I'll be back soon!" Genevieve headed out the door after giving them both big bear hugs.

* At the library *

     Mr. Linden looked up from his book at the front desk as the bell rang, "Hello, Genevieve."

     "Hey August!! Got any new, interesting fantasy books for me? I finished Seraphina." she said, speed walking over to the desk and putting down her book.

     "Sure do. Go look in the cart over there. There's some new stuff you might like." August said, pointing to the cart near the end of the desk, as he checked her book in. Genevieve spent some time looking in the cart for a good book before she found something. It was a pretty basic looking book... It was a beige, untitled book with a weird sign on it. She didn't exactly know what it meant but she thought it was a cool book.

     "Hey August, I think I found a book!" she put the book on the desk and August looked at it strangely.

     "Uhh.. I don't know, maybe you should get another book. This book gives me a weird vibe." 

     Genevieve giggled at his comment. "It'll be fineee! It's a book, what could possibly happen, vines grow out of it?" August checked-out the book for her and gave it to her.

     "Alright... here's the book. But don't say I didn't tell you it gives me a bad vibe if something happens." Genevieve said thanks and gave him $7.35 for the book. The bell dinged as she left the store.

     Little did she know, the book wasn't just an ordinary book. She'd see soon enough...

* At home *

     "Ma, I'm home!" she yelled, taking her shoes off and putting them on the shoe rack. "Is dinner done?"

     "It should be finished in about 10 minutes, hun." Mrs. Nora said. "So, what books did you get?"

     "Oh, I got this interesting, untitled book! August said it gave him weird vibes but I got it anyway. It looks really cool! There's some odd symbols on the cover though." Her mother looked at the book, confused about what she meant. It kind of looked like some sort of... rune wording? She just shrugged it off, thinking maybe it was just some other language.

     After dinner and dessert, which Genevieve enjoyed very much, she headed to bed to check out her new book. When she opened it, there were more runic looking letters but with translation. So she translated it, the cover of the book said ᛞᛖᚨᛏᚺ. After she translated it she smiled brightly. "Death, huh? Seems like a horror book, just my style! I'm gonna read it now." Luckily for her, the words in the actual book were mostly her language, but if there was any runic language, she just used the cheat sheet in the front of the book to translate it. Some of the words were a little odd to use in the book, but she didn't pay mind to it. It was a horror book; right?
