It was another day in the home of the Duke of Oxford. Maids and servants are all over the place, preparing for a banquet. They're celebrating their son's achievement for his engagement with the French princess.

Lily look down from the mezzanine, peering over the busy workers. She was nervous, because her mother told her about her future fiancé being there. It's not because she's nervous, because he might not like her, but she's nervous, because she doesn't want to get married and she's scared what words may come out of her mouth.

"Lily!" Her mother called out, walking towards her. Lady Hasting is very prim and proper. Her posture is straight, her fashion in very modest and expensive, and her head is always up just pure elegance. "Lily, you must get ready before the banquet starts."

Lily looked down for the last time before walking towards her mother. "I will." She said.

Lady Hasting watched her daughter walks to her room before following behind her. Lily was the only girl in her children, that means her mother is always watching her intently. Lily is sick of it, but she can't do anything.

Lily entered her room. Her maids already assisting her to undress, just to get dress again in a much fancier gown. Her mother begun picking out accessories for her hair and for her dress.

"The Marquess of Basilwether will be attending." Her mother starts, checking the gems of the necklace.

"And why would this concern me?" Lily asked, not looking at her mother. She's trying her best not to move, so it will be easier to the maids the dress her.

"Well, considering he will be your husband soon." Her mother said like it was nothing. Lily doesn't like the idea of getting engaged at a young age, especially marriage.

"What if I said no?" She questioned.

"You can't do anything about it, your father and his father already agreed upon this agreement since before you were born." Her mom informed her.

"Then, what if he says no?" She asked, not wanting to get married.

"He won't." The woman said with so much confidence in her daughter. "The queen already told you, you will be every nobleman's ideal wife."
