Y/N POV
"The guard has broken!" I'd hear a soldier shout.
In my mind, I rejoice. This is it! The war is over! Finally, Napoleon's reign has come to an end! We'll march on to Paris by next week! Not yet, I'd tell myself, we must rout the frogs first. Riding up to a colonel, I exclaimed:
"Well, what are you waiting for? They won't stand! Rally all the horse you have, and ride down those Frenchmen! Peirce their lines, they'll break quickly! Go on now!"
With a salute, the Colonel responded by raising his saber, calling on all the hussars under his command to rally.
I'd take out my spyglass, observing them as they galloped forward. As I predicted, the French lines were routed quickly, as losing the Garde Imperiale tanked their morale. Riding back to Generalfeldmarschall Blucher, I'd relay the good news.
Blucher: "Well done!" He'd pat me on the back. "We've won the day, this was a decisive victory." Suddenly becoming serious, he'd then turn to me. "Now then, I know you wish to go home, but a soldier's duty never ends, how would you feel about commanding an expeditionary force into a new continent?"
I'd ponder my choices, do I go home or take this offer? Thinking back, I don't have much at home, I've never been married, nor had any children. There's nothing back there to look forward to. Making my choice, I'd turn towards the Generalfeldmarschall.
"I'll accept the position, sir!"
He'd chuckle, then pull out a letter, handing it to me.
Blucher: "You don't need to call me sir anymore, Y/N."I'd take the letter, reading it. It read:
