Will was having an episode.

It had been a week since he left the house, only exiting his room to eat dinner with Joyce and Jonathan as though not to worry them.

He was avoiding school, friends and anything that was previously important to him. All motivation he had just evaporated. He barely moved from his bed, just staring at the opposite wall. Every time he closed his eyes, all he saw was another demogorgan, another mind flayer, another vecna.

It never ended.

The whole upside down thing was really starting to get to him again. As the days went on, more and more guilt, exhaustion and anxiety built up inside him. He just wanted to die.

Will knew his friends were worried about him - his walkie-talkie was constantly going off (mostly Mike). He felt so shitty for ignoring them, but he just couldn't make himself respond, let alone be his usual self.

It was Friday evening and beginning to get dark outside when something - or rather someone - disturbed Will. He heard a knock on the front door, and listend as Joyce answered it. The voices were too far away for him to hear and didn't last long so Will just presumed it was something unimportant.

Until a knock and voice rang out to him.

"Will? Can I come in?"

It was Mike. A fluttery feeling formed inside Will as he realised who it was. And then the guilt came crashing down. How could he be so selfish? Leaving his own boyfriend for over a week with no contact whatsoever, no explanation, nothing. He was an awful human being.

"Hello? Will please, I need to make sure you're okay." The urgency in Mike's voice became more apparent to the latter at this point. He realised he should probably respond.

"...Yeah, come on in."

The door softly clicked open, and Will watched as his boyfriend's pretty face appeared through the crack. He took in all his features - and God he'd missed them so much. Mike's sharp jawline, messy black hair that shaded his face. So goddamn gorgeous.

Mike smoothly walked in and closed the door behind him, before wandering over to Will's bed. Will was sat under the covers, his back rested against the headboard.

Mike gently sat down on his bed as silence intertwined the pair. They just sat, basking in each other's presence for the first time in a while.

Shockingly, it was Will who broke that silence. He flung himself at Mike, knocking the latter over on the bed. They laid there for a moment, Will curled into Mike's chest. It was so warm and cosy being held in each others gentle touch.

A sniffle sounded as Mike felt a drop of water fall onto his t-shirt. He frowned and looked down to see the boy curled up into his chest. His face was hidden.

"Will? Hey, look at me."

Will looked up at his boyfriend, eyes red and watery.

Mike cupped his face in his hands. The face he loved. The face he had loved since the day the pair met. He swiped his finger across Will's face to rub off the tear stains.

"You know you can talk to me, right?" spoke Mike, "I'm always here for you. No matter what. Crazy together."

This forced a smile onto Will's face, remembering the silly promises they made as kids. They were so obliviously in love it was embarrassing to think about.

Will leaned up to kiss the side of the taller boy's face, "I know. Crazy together."

Mike audibly laughed at this, "I have the fattest, most embarrassing crush on you. You are literally the most gorgeous boy ever."

Will couldn't hold back his smile after that. He was so utterly infatuated by Mike. Will Byers is and always will be in love with Michael Wheeler.

"You are perfect Mike. I love you."

"I love you too, Byers."

The couple lapsed into silence after this, the tears on Will's face drying. He was thinking about a lot again. Considering whether to tell Mike everything. He probably should - he knows the boy would do anything to help him. Will couldn't keep on living this way, unable to function all because of the trauma brought by the Upside Down.

"Mike, I.. I've been- lately it's..."

The latter laid a gentle kiss on Will's forehead, "Take your time, my love."

Will thought he might actually melt.

After taking a deep breath to organise his thoughts, he spoke. He spoke about everything that had been going on - the anxiety, panic attack, depressive episodes - the lot. All while Mike sat and listened. Not just listening, but hearing him. Taking in every word that Will said. Thinking of ways he could help him deal with this.

Once Will finally finished, there were fresh new tears on his face. He'd started crying again, bringing back all the trauma was a lot for him to do and Mike knew this.

"Will," spoke Mike, pulling the latter into a strong embrace, "I'm so proud of you for telling me. Seriously. It takes a lot of balls to do that."

Will laughed through the tears that were still pouring down his face. Mike smiled, realising just how much he needed this boy in his life, how much he cared for him.

There was a moment of silence between the two, showing the understanding they both had of the other. The love, the admiration, the infatuation, the care.

"We can talk more later on, but for now let's focus on us, yeah?" continued Mike. Will held onto his waist as he stretched his lanky arm over to the vhs player and just about managed to reach the on button (whilst his entire body was practically hanging off the bed with only Will holding him back). The machine whirred to life, clicking and buzzing, and after a short moment music began to play.

It was boys don't cry by The Cure.

Both boys burst into laughter at the irony of the situation, clutching onto one another as if they'd disappear. It was nice to be back to some normality. Nothing would ever be truly normal again after the shit they've been through together.

Mike was relieved Will opened up to him.

Will was relieved Mike wasn't mad at him.

There was still a lot of things to work out around both of their mental health, but at the moment they just enjoyed being two teenagers in love.
