Now you must be wondering what his thoughts were. To him, she was just another girl, perhaps a bit more likable than the others he'd met.
He didn't really have one personality, rather, he would morph into different ones depending on the person he was talking to. However, he never lied about his opinions or lost his sense of sarcasm. He would just phrase his words differently in different tones, and maybe tone down his sarcasm when he needed to.
But with this girl, he couldn't really tell what she liked. His goal in school-life was to be able to have everyone want to talk to him, without him having to talk back. But with this girl, she was always on and off. Sometimes she would greet him cheerfully and discuss whatever happened in school or about her own life, and sometimes she would just be very reserved, to the point that she wouldn't talk or laugh with her own friends. This annoyed him slightly, because he couldn't read her at all. Not the slightest bit.
He leaned toward the intellectual introvert type, but that was mostly it. He even started questioning that analysis at one point, when she started taking initiative in all sorts of group activities. He also thought that she might be socially scarred, but when he told her that, she didn't have the most "socially scarred" response.
So when the confession came, he was... confused to say the least.
