Elias
After I told Caleb everything, he had so many questions. I almost wanted to hang up on him.
"Do you want me to repeat the whole story?" I asked, dragging my hand down my face in annoyance.
"No, I understand," he replied. "But that's crazy dude." I sighed and nodded as if he could see me. I could tell he knew how I was feeling. I was feeling weird enough that I was attracted to my sister's boyfriend.
"Do you want me to come over?" he asks. I almost want to plead and beg.
"Yes please," I say in a mock whiny tone.
"Alright, I'll be there in ten minutes," he says, chuckling, before hanging up. I turn off my phone and shove my face into my pillows. I let out a loud groan. How am I gonna survive this weekend?
Someone knocks on my door and I groan again. Can people not bother me when I'm dealing with a life-ending crisis?
"Come in," I say. The person opens the door. I sit up and see Jonah standing under the door frame. His sweatpants hang low on his hips which has me staring.
"Can you show me where the big snack bowls are?" he asks, running his fingers through his dark curls. "If you have any."
I climb out of my bed and nod. I really didn't feel like speaking at the moment. He looked straight at my lower body and didn't look away. I felt my face grow warm. I had forgotten I wasn't wearing pants.
"Maybe you should... put on some clothes," he says with wide eyes. But he continues to stare. Does he find me attractive?
"Why?" I ask. "Are you uncomfortable? This is my house, I could walk around butt naked if I wanted." I try to act tough but I'm as flustered as he is.
"Have you though?" he asks as he crosses his arms.
"Why do you wanna know?" I ask, turning towards him curiously.
"No reason," he replied in a nonchalant tone. I could see a look of amusement in his eyes. I want to slap that grin off his face.
I walked over to my closet and pulled out a hoodie. I pulled it over my head and turned towards him. It covered most of my lower body.
"Is this better?" I ask. I have no idea why I'm looking for his approval.
"Not if you're joining the party," he says, tilting his head to the side.
"I'm not," I say with furrowed eyebrows.
I walk past him and down the stairs. My sister had rearranged all the chairs and couches so there was more space. "You better put everything back after," I say. "Yeah, sure whatever," she replies.
I make it down the stairs and walk into the kitchen. Jonah stands so close behind me. I open the top cupboard. I reach up to get a bowl. Even on my tippy toes, I could only touch it with the tip of my fingers.
"Need help, retaco?" Jonah asks. I don't know what that means, but it sounds teasing.
"You shut it!" I exclaim. He laughs. I move out of the way reluctantly and he walks to the cupboard. He also had to go on his tippy toes to get the bowl but he could actually take it down. Giraffe.
I watched as he put it on the counter and turned back towards me.
"Are there any more?" he asked, looking up in the cupboard.
"There should be another up there," I reply. He puts his hands back up and pulls another bowl down. He puts it on the counter next to the other one.
"Thanks," he says.
