(AU where John ain't dead)
John Winchester wasn't very fond of homosexuals, nor did he like angels, and It just so happened that his eldest son scored an angel. An angel with a male vessel.
Dean paced across the room, a look of sheer horror on his face. His father was coming to stay for a few days and he was supposed to be arriving soon.
"Shit, shit, shit--" Dean muttered, stopping and slamming his hands down onto a small wooden table.
"Dean, don't worry too much, he's only staying for a little while."
Dean turned to Castiel, a look of pure agony on his face. He loved his little trenchcoat baby but he didn't think his father would and to Dean Winchester, his father's approval was crucial.
"Cas, it's not that I'm worried about." The hunter grunted, rubbing his temples. All this stress was unhealthy, as well as slightly worrying. Castiel walked over to his partner and hugged him from behind, resting his head on his shoulder.
"What is worrying you then?" The angel whispered, tightening his embrace slightly.
Dean bit his lip, refusing to turn around.
".....What if he doesn't like you? What if he doesn't approve?" He asked, glaring down at the table. "I-.....maybe we shouldn't tell him."
Castiel loosened his grip and took a step back, forcing Dean to turn around and look at him. The taller hunter refused to meet his gaze.
"Dean..." Cas whispered. "Are you....embarrassed of me?"
Dean's head shot up and he grabbed a hold of the angel's shoulders.
The even thought of being embarrassed of such a beautiful being was downright stupid and illogical.
To the green-eyed hunter, Cas was the most beautiful thing ever to grace the planet, he loved him more than pie, more than Baby, even more than life itself. He was in love with the dorky angel. But he was too scared to tell his dad that."Cas, my baby in a trenchcoat, of course I'm not! I love you! I just....I'm scared of what dad'll think....He probably never thought I'd date a man." He replied, cupping his hands around the shorter man's face and bringing his face closer.
Cas blinked, a light dusting of pink covering his cheeks. He looked down. He loved being this close to Dean, but this whole subject was getting him down.
"Technically, I'm neither male nor female...but I don't understand how my (vessel's) gender has anything to do with our relationship." The blue-eyed angel answered, returning his gaze to Dean's beautiful green eyes.
The taller man held his gaze before pressing a soft kiss just beside the other man's mouth. Cas pouted, waiting for an answer.
"Well...uh....homophobic. Dad is kinda homophobic." Dean replied, pulling away and rubbing the back of his neck.
He remembered all the bad remarks his dad would make whenever homosexuality was even slightly mentioned. You would of thought that the world of hunting demons and monsters would of changed those views but they didn't.
"Well, then he is of a low-intelligence....he is....stew."
Dean looked at his partner with a puzzled expression before realising the mistake and bursting out into a fit of laughter.Cas furrowed his eyebrows, his head tilting to the side. When he realised his mistake he blushed a deep shade of red.
"Stupid. I meant stupid, your father is not a mixture of slow-cooked meat and vegetables, Dean." He corrected, looking down and covering his red face.
Dean slapped his knee, a conflicted expression on his face.
"What if you take a female ve-" he started before stopping himself.
Cas was looking at him, a stern look on his face.
"No, Dean, I would need permission, plus, I don't want to."Dean sighed and fell back into a green armchair, his face consorted in pain, the stress burning his brain.
Cas sighed and took a seat beside him on the arm of the chair, wrapping his arm around Dean's shoulder.
He didn't understand why being a female was so important to his partner's father. Was it because they wouldn't be able to reproduce? That could be easily fixed. Adoption was always an option."Dean, what's wrong with being in love with someone of the same sex?" The angel questioned, resting his head on the hunter's shoulder.
Dean rested his head on the angel's.
"Nothing, Cas, nothing at all....it's just...dad seems to think so." He whispered, closing his eyes.Castiel glanced up at the green-eyed man. He took the other's hand with his free one and gave it a squeeze.
"That is his problem then, not yours. He doesn't control you, Dean, you have your own free will. If he can't accept that you're dating an angel in a male vessel, then he isn't worth your time."
Dean opened his eyes and gazed into Cas' blue ones. They just stared at each other for a while until Dean lipped his bottom lip and smiled.
"Yeah, you're right. We are Team Free Will, right? Plus, I'd rather have my dorky trenchcoat baby than him any day, he was never there in the first place." He pulled Castiel onto his lap and placed his forehead against the other man's.
Cas smiled, leaning forward slightly and placing a small kiss on Dean's nose. Oh, how he loved his righteous man.
As they were about to kiss, they heard someone knock on the front door.
"Sammy, That's probably dad!" Dean yelled, propping Cas up onto his feet and standing up.
Cas gave him a warm smile and interlaced their fingers.
