Lonely No More

Dean stared down at his beer bottle again.
He felt....lonely. Not the kind of lonely that could be cured with a motel room and a woman in lingerie but rather, the kind of loneliness that crushes your heart and claws at your soul. The kind of loneliness that makes you wish you were never born, that you were dead.
Sam was gone, he had left about two hours ago to gather information on their latest case and Bobby had went with him. Dean sighed, leaning back and stretching. He had gone longer without such loneliness before but this time was different.

"Dean?" A voice called from behind him.

Dean turned around and found himself looking into a pair of bright blue eyes.

"Hey, Cas." The green-eyed man replied, turning back to the bottle in front of him.

Cas flicked on the light and went to sit beside Dean.
"Why were you sitting in the dark?" Castiel asked, cocking his head to the side as he turned to face Dean.

Dean leaned back a little further, slowly sinking further down the couch.

"I don't know." He replied, shrugging.
The blue-eyed angel furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

"Are you alright, Dean?" He leaned towards taller man and put his hand against the other man's forehead.

Dean's face got warmer, noticing how close the angel was.

"H-hey, Cas...personal-" He started before he was cut off by the other man.

"-Space, sorry, I forgot. My apologies." Castiel whispered, looking into Dean's green eyes.

Castiel loved those eyes. They were the colour of emeralds, grass, leaves....life. Dean's face got redder, nervously glancing to the side. He was so close, if he just moved his head forward a little he could--.
Stop it, Dean! this is your best friend! Dean thought, mentally slapping himself.
He was brought out of his thoughts by Cas grabbing his chin.

"Dean? Is something wrong?" Cas questioned, forcing the other man to look him in the eyes.
As blue studied green, their faces got closer.
It was Cas who made the first move. He wasn't sure why he wanted to do it, he just felt like he had to. He lightly pressed his lips against Dean's, shutting his eyes and leaning into the other man.

Dean was surprised. His face got hotter as he kissed back, wrapping his arms around Castiel. It felt so right, like, it was meant to happen. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't but Dean sure as hell wasn't going to let this opportunity pass. It was in that moment that he realised. Him, Dean Winchester, hunter, was in love with Castiel, an angel of the lord.

Dean broke the kiss, panting lightly and smiling.

"Hey, Cas?" He asked, pressing his
forehead against the angel's.

"Yes, Dean?" Castiel answered, a faint blush dusting his cheeks as he looks up at him.

"I love you." Dean whispered, just loud enough for Cas to hear.

Castiel smiled. He had realised his love for the hunter quite a while ago, but yes, he did love Dean. He loved him more than anything else.
"I love you too, Dean."

"Don't ever leave me....please."

Castiel pulled away and placed a small kiss on Dean's forehead.

"I wouldn't dream of it."
