Together...Until The End

Chapter Two

District Columbia POV

Waking up once more I was met with Montpellier sitting in a chair next to me reading a book. I sat up but immediately lied down in pain all over my body.

Montpellier: "Documented the entire war. How do you remember this much detail?"

Me: "My sensor equipment was the best we had to offer before the collapse. Were's Cleveland and Enterprise?"

Montpellier: "Rescue mission to assist Arizona's fleet. They got ambushed on patrol and we couldn't warn them of the attack on base soon enough."

Me: "Good to hear. But at least it's not the SIRENs from my world."

Montpellier: "I noticed your shells went straight through without problems. Why is that?"

Me: "Ours had much more armor. That broadside would at best lightly damage a destroyer. At worst you scratch the non-existent paint on their hulls. My railgun retrofit solved this issue but not everyone received it."

Montpellier: "Railgun?"

Me: "Electrically powered magnet use to force the shell out of the barrel at high speeds. Mine can propel a shell anywhere from Mach 2.6 to Mach 12.9. Design limitations prevented my weapons from exceeding those limits. Also Mach 1 is the speed of sound."

Montpellier: "Seems powerful."

Me: "They were, until we were betrayed...when they got their hands on USS Mobile they ripped her rigging apart and gave her SIREN ones while they studied our technology. Mobile was later sunk and subsequently killed when he scuttled himself ending the lives of the Hawaii-class that remained, all of my sibling ships, and countless destroyers and cruisers. I was the last remaking capital ship in the world that wasn't an aircraft carrier."

Montpellier: "You spit out this knowledge to everyone you seem to meet. Why?"

Me: "Because I know you have a microphone on you that is recording this. And it helps to reminisce on what I should've done instead of what I did."

Montpellier: "Why did you collapse?"

Me: "Because Ash shot me in the cube and I was transported here before it could stabilize the out flowing energy of my reactor it has left me with a much worse condition than IJN Amagi was in after the Kanto Earthquake. I have limited time before my cube implodes and with it my reactor will light up like a dying star. The damage has been done and is irreversible."

Montpellier: "And you accept the fact that you will explode and incinerate everything around you?"

Me: "I do, at least it means my cube will go down in the same blaze that sunk my family."

Montpellier: "What if we had something that could repair it?"

Me: "My time came years ago, I survived when I should have sunk. I was born into war and have done my best to survive...at the end of the day I've served for 60 years...I'm a dying remnant of what is possible with SIREN technology reverse engineered...If you ever come across META or the Ashes, do me a favor and tell them I said 'Fuck all of you tell hell and back'."

Montpellier: "Why not do so yourself?"

Me: "My reactor is already failing."

I stood up off the bed and started walking down to my ship. Along the way I saw many of the KANSEN move away from me. Once I reached my ship I set it to war emergency power in hopes to get as far away from the base as possible. My radar picked up multiple signals following me but was unable to discern who it was. Once I exited the blast radius I set the countdown for 10 seconds and walked to my room to lie down one last time. Once I did it triggered the countdown.

As it reached 5 it identified the signal as Ash. Powering full speed at me...she was almost in the blast range.

Ash POV

I was notified that he triggered the self destruct sequence. I had escaped last time allowing the SIRENs to transport him here in hopes it would end all resistance against them. Ashes and META were useless. I guess the Embers were right all along.

Me: "No..!"

Third POV

Ash: "Noooo!!!"

???: "Hehehe, you still love that weakling?"

Ash: "Elizabeth."

QE: "Once again you traitors kneeling or sink before the great Royal Navy!"

Ash: "META became monsters more than Ashes ever did. How are you still alive?!"

QE: "You never killed me! It was but a copy! And now I get to destroy you!"

???: "I'm afraid I can't allow that to happen."

I turned and saw a man wearing Crusader armor walking on water towards us. QE started laughing at him.

QE: "You think you can stand against the flagship of the Royal Navy?! Your pathetic!"

Ash: "Your worse than Elizabeth...Go to hell QE!"

Crusader: "Well now that's just rude. Especially when your speaking to a holy man such as myself."

QE: "You think your outdated armor and simple sword can kill me?"

She laughed even louder and I could tell it was pure amusement. However she didn't seem to notice as he faded away like an illusion being replaced by a towering monster and soldiers appearing out of flames around us.

???: "I thought META was supposed to be the best of the best? You seem to be blind to your surroundings Queen Elizabeth."

QE: "When did they get here?"

Ash: "While you were laughing your stern off about how man in Crusader armor was going to beat you with a great sword."

QE: "So? Normal guns can't Pierre my arbiter level shiel-."

She was cut off with a bolt of plasma going straight through her shield and taking out her starboard rigging and torso. I turned to see a barrel of a cannon on the monstrous machine cooling down. Seeing the army around me I turned to face who I though was the leader but as I did I felt my cube shatter and collapsed.

With my source of life gone I watched as the leader walked over and kneeled next to me.

???: "Rest...and you will be freed."

My vision went black and I felt myself start to destroy itself.

AND THATS THE END OF THIS BOOK! ASH WILL RETURN AND HER JOURNEY WILL CONTINUE IN "THE CRUSADE HAS BEGUN!"

Yes I understand this book was short but that was my intention from the beginning! Also, first book I've ever completed on Wattpad without discontinuing it!
