The next morning I woke up on the couch. My body was sore because of my uncorfortable position while sleeping, and the tv was turned off.

I stood up and went to make my breakfast. Milk with coffee and some crackers.

The loud noise of Michael coming down the stairs distracted me and I almost pour milk all over the kitchen.

-Hey Jas

-Hey Michael.

-Someone's a little bit moody today huh?

I rolled my eyes. I think I kind of have a bad habit with it.

-Why are so happy anyway.

-Becauseeee

-Becauseee??

-Yesterday I met an awesome girl when coming back home from the match!

-Aww really?

-Yeah she's pretty cool.

-Hey I'm happy for you! But still let me eat my breakfast in peace I'm not feeling in my 100% today.

-Okay okay. Oh by the way I had to turn the tv on yesterday. I think ypu stayed till very late last night and fell asleep.

-Yeah hahah

-K see you round

-Were are you going? -I asked, a little concerned because Michael had being going out a lot lately and because I was staying alone again. I just hoped our parents trip to Europe didn't take too long..

-Just to have some breakfast at Calum's, his mom invited me over and I just love her food.

I sighed in relief and giggled.

-Fine, see ya!

-Bye!!! -he slammed the front door. Geez he needs to learn to be more quiet.

I finished my crackers and cupped the coffee with my fingers, the warm travelling all along my arms and reaching my cheeks, my body now embraced by a weak yet comforming heat.

It was a very cold day, yet it didn't snow. But I wouldn't be surpised if it did.

I took a sip of my drink and a second later a thought crossed my mind.

What about that Luke boy from yesterday? What would happen if it snowed?

He would certainly freeze to death.

Then I thought how he had been managing to survive for about .... how old was he? It surprised me that the only personal data I got was his name. And ofcourse, part of his story.
Well, he was obviously older than me. That meant he had been living on his own for more than 6 years now. He must have some kind of strategy or external help from someone on tough days... still it must be hard.

As if I had some kind of future-telling powers, snowflakes started to fill my view through the window next to the sink. One by one, slowly but steadly, and increasing their velocity as seconds passed.

Then the day lost its clearness and all went dark. A snow storm. I drank my coffee as quickly as I could and called my step brother.

-Michael. -I breathed once he finally picked up.

-Hey, there's an ugly weather out there I know. Don't worry Jaysey I'm staying at the Hood's for a while. I'm safe here. Will you...

-I'm okay Michael. I was just worried about you.

-Okay I was just checking.

-It's not like it's an electric storm and could we not talk about this..?

-Okay. I'm fine. Don't be a dummy and stay in the house. Phone me if anything happens, alright?

-Yeah. Bye.

I relaxed once I knew he was safe. I closed my eyes, breathing quietly.

Luke.

My body reacted before my mind could and when I saw I had stood up and started searching him through the thick glass of the window. Nothing. Snow had painted everything in white.

My worring level was to the point my head hurt and my heart bumped like crazy.

This wasn't just another snow storm. It was bigger that the usual ones we had on winter.

Suddenly a hand hit my window, making me scream at the horrifing surprise.

Its nude fingers formed a fist, and the hand with arm started slowly lowering like the owner was falling to the floor.
