THREE
His garage was like a driveway, and there were cars of different types at both corners. After finding a suitable spot for his Bmw, he alighted and walked towards the elevator.
The door pulled open to disclose a well furnished and luxurious sitting room whose ceilings were magnificent, and beautifully endorsed with sea wallpapers that looked alive. The furnitures were huge and had golden handles. Emerald lights could be seen at both sides and its reflections on the glass floors looked magical.
He hurried straight to his room for a cold shower.
The lights turned on as he opened the door. His room always looked neat, thanks to someone.
He gently took off his clothes, placing them inside his wardrobe. He took out a white colored towel and wrapped it around his waist, afterwards he entered the bathroom.
"VIDA, turn on the shower," he ordered the A.I technology programmed to secure the room and perform other important functions.
Soon cold water poured out from the shower.
Joy, a young vibrant lady in her 20s with neck length hair, walked through the lobby with a food tray as she noticed her master had returned.
She inputted the passcode to unlock his door.
"Passcode incorrect." VIDA echoed.Joy bit her lips in confusion. She had to place the tray gently on a smooth surface and tried unlocking the door again.
Still, the passcode is incorrect.
"Only a year ago the young master changed the passcode. Could he have changed it again?" She muttered and tried peeping at the automatic machine to see if it was broken. Unfortunately, she could only see her reflections.
She frowned and hit the door angrily. She had cleaned his room this morning and she was sure the passcode she inputted was correct. She tried again.
James unlocked the door from inside, ready to devour whoever it was disturbing his privacy.
He was putting on woolen nightwear, and his messy wet hair proved he just got out of the shower.
Joy froze. Seeing Joy he relaxed.
"I'm sorry young master, I just wanted to serve your dinner." She spoke calmly, face down.
James extended the door widely and she entered to keep the tray of food.
She set the food on a small stool close to his bed since James preferred eating in his room when it was late.
She learnt to serve him light meals at night since she noticed he didn't normally finish his late meals, most times, he doesn't eat at all.
"I changed the passcode. It's now 5294." James announced sitting on his bed with crossed legs.
Joy nodded trying to record his voice in her brain with her eyes roaming the ceiling.
She bowed slightly again, and walked towards the door.
"How is your medication?" James asked suddenly.
She looked back in astonishment, contemplating if actually he was referring to her. 'He knows I am sick?' That felt good.
She had been working for him for a long time, almost four years. He was a good man and strangely she wasn't attracted to him unlike other girls who caused scandals with his name.
He was cute, hot and handsome - no doubt. Just watching him sit on his bed like that, with water draining from his hair could put anyone in the mood but she just saw him as her boss and he didn't seem attracted to her either.
But For once, he never asked about her health. so she was amazed...
James asked again since she wasn't responding. He only asked because he trusted her. She was a devotee of his household. It took three years for him to trust her. Then he realized he didn't even know her medical status.
"Did you get the medication?" He queried again.
She nodded, "I don't remember telling you I was sick. How did you know?"
"Who do you think sent doctor Samuel here?" He asked, "I knew you had symptoms. I don't need to be told." He replied as he cut the fried plantain. Chewing it as he spoke, " you can take a leave if the fever is high."
"No... no young master. I'm recuperating. It's fine now," She debated touching her forehead to convince him.
"Well then you can leave. Let me enjoy the meal."
Joy was grateful. She could serve him all her life. He never for once shouted at her even when she made a silly mistake of putting VIDA in the refrigerator thinking she could ice it to death. 'A talking machine?' She gasped. She had never seen that before and assumed it was dangerous. But that happened years ago when she was hired.
Few inches away from the door, she heard his voice. "Oh.. least I forget, Nickolas might visit any time soon. Just so you know," He waved his hands forward and backward as a sign she could leave.
A wild grin appeared on his face. He knew she was attracted to Nick and felt it was good to tell her.
Joy left the room hiding her smile. She knew Nick. They were close, and he sometimes flirted with her.
Nick liked girls and she tried not to get intimate with him. She wasn't ready for a heart break and preferred being a secret admirer.
They were only friends and that fact alone was enough for her to keep holding onto him. She had accepted the painful fact that he was just a flirt and can never be satisfied with one woman.
But then, come to think of it...he left for almost 3 years and now suddenly he's back?
She shrugged as she entered her room.
Her thoughts drifted back to James, it did be nice if he had women around him too and not just wander in loneliness.
His encounters with women were always disastrous. And he had finally given up after what happened 5 years ago with his supposed fianceé.
And Suzanne? She was just a lovely figure he couldn't keep by his side either. He always stood up for her right from childhood and saw caring for her as his number one priority. But why? Why can't he see her as a woman? He knew Suz was in love with him but yet...
"But wait....is he gay?"
