Chapter 1 - Starting Point

I twirled my hair around with earphones in my ears.

I looked infront of me, which stood a teacher and a new student.

The teacher smacked the ruler on the desk for the 2nd time for everyone's attention.

" This is our new student, Hazu. Please make him feel welcome. " The teacher said while looking around.

" You may introduce yourself. "

He looked around and smiled.

" Hi, you can call me Hazu. I don't really mind what you call me. I'm just happy to be here. My house is right behind the school, come visit me if you have the time. That's all. " He introduced.

I gazed at him with my mouth slightly open.

He still was looking at everyone's faces and saw me staring at him.

He smiled back at me to the point I could see his eyes light up.

" You can take a seat by Mayazaki. " The teacher told.

He nodded and walked torwards me and pulled out the chair beside me to sit down.

He hanged his bag on the back of the chair and stayed quiet.

" What school did you moved from? " I said while reading the textbook.

He suprisingly looked at me.

" Oh, I uh moved from Takabu Tobu Highschool. " he claimed.

I looked at him and said,

" Oh, my cousin goes there. He said it was kind of a shitty place. I get why you moved schools. " while smiling at him.

His face went from nervous from talking to me to having fun socialising with me very quickly.

I looked upfront where the teacher was writing on the chalk board and started writing notes on my notebook.

After class..
( Recess / Lunch time )

" Alright, that seems to be all for this topic. You can all go eat now. " The teacher said while looking at his wrist watch.

I closed my notebook and streched my arms back.

My friend patted on my shoulder and said,

" Maya, we're going to buy some snacks, do you want anything? Or do you want us to buy anything? " Yayu asked.

I shooked my head and looked over at Hazu while he was really focused on writing on his notebook with his calculator by his side. It seemed like he was really interested in maths.

" Okay, we'll get going then! " Yayu said while chatting and leaving the classroom with Ruu.

I minded my own business and wearing my earphones while I listen to music and study.

" Mayazaki-san, do you not eat? " Hazu tapped on my shoulder and said.

I looked over and took off my earphones.

" Oh, I dont. I usually drink a strawberry milk box. But I dont really have the money right now. " I replied.

He frowned at me.

" I actually have 2 onigiri's. You can have one, do you like tuna? They're tuna filled. I hope you're okay with eating tuna. " He said while handing me an onigiri.

My eyes soften and smiled while taking the onigiri from his hand.

I looked at the onigiri in the palm of my hands.

" I dont live with my parents. So I'm not used to people giving me or offering food, actually. But I'm glad to feel the warmth of it. " I said while my eyes water a bit.

Hazu didn't say anything. But to me, I think it was his way of showing that he respected me for that and also didn't want to say nothing more to hurt my feelings.

he sky began changing colours from blue to slight orange.

I looked at the window and continued packing my bag.

My friend, Yuna was looking at her phone while waiting for me.

The others had to go home because something was up.

Jiro and Pario was on cleaning duty.

And Hazu just got out of class.

" Alright, I'm done packing my bag. " I said to Yuna.

Yuna looked up at me, smiled and we both went out of school.

While heading out of school, I saw Hazu getting on his bike.

While he rode his bike, he saw me and stopped.

" Oh, are you guys heading home together? " he asked.

" Yeah, you don't walk home, Hazu? " I answered and replied.

" Oh, I dont. My apartment is a bit far away. So, I dont really walk. " He replied back.

" You live in an apartment? Can we come to your house for studying? I mean we're all getting along, aren't we? " Yuna asked while smiling.

I smiled and turnt my head to look at Hazu.

" I don't mind at all. Plus my mom would be happy to see I have friends now. On my first day too. " He smiled and said.

" I better get going, It's getting late, kinda. I dont wanna miss dinner. " He said.

We all waved goodbyes and headed home.
