This story is set a generation before the events of Raven and Rue, however it is not necessary to have read that book to follow How Peter Won Ellen.
It is rated Mature, and has adult themes and sexual references. It sometimes treats dark subjects in a comedic way, and if Raven and Rue was inspired by folklore and history, this one's primary inspiration is probably Monty Python's The Holy Grail.
