NINE : Who Has Won The Game
Why do some people cheat?
Is it in human's nature to do so?
How can someone betray someone?
Jin stops his pondering.
He looks at Hoseok, who's only wearing a plain white button down shirt and black skinny jeans with his ash blonde hair down, sitting quietly right across from him. Jin swears he has never seen the man looked worse for the wear ever since he has met him.
Min Hoseok is a fashion icon of his own, and not just because he owns a handful of luxury department stores. He'd always gets invitations and gifts from designers and sponsors at fashion shows, haute couture private dinners and parties together with him.
Hoseok, "I'm sorry."
Jin, "Sorry."
They have both apologised at the same time.
The two gaze at each other then, Jin remembering the times he and Hoseok would always say the exact same things at the same time. They burst out laughing because of that.
Just like the old times, Jin thinks.
"Let me talk first," Hoseok murmurs sadly as he stares at Jin, taking a deep breath, his voice cracking. "I'm sorry, Jinnie. I'm really sorry. I know what I did was so wrong in so many levels—keeping Taehyung's affair from you and not saying anything. I forgot to think how you'd feel, but then after experiencing the same thing, I've now fully understand how hurt you are with all of this."
Jin sighs. "I betrayed you first, Hoseok, and for that I'm also sorry. I didn't tell you about Yoongi stepping outside of your marriage when I had the chance, and for sure this is my karma for not doing so as I should have."
Hoseok smiles, shaking his head. "It's only normal for you to lie for Yoongi because he's your childhood best friend. What could you possibly do? It's exactly the same with Namjoon lying for his only brother. I admit, at first I was so mad at you for what you did. When I came home that day... finally seeing Yoongi's betrayal to me in the flesh, I partially blamed you for that. I was thinking, ‘How could you destroy what we have like that?’ Later on, I came to realise that you weren't the one who destroyed our marriage in the first place. It was Yoongi and his bullshit of lies."
"Well, I actually did that with the intention of hurting you just as badly as I did. I hated you for having such a happy family while mine's a total wreck," Jin shares, tapping his cup of tea, eyes down. "I forgot about my goddaughter, your daughter Yeri, and how this would've affect her because of the pent-up anger and hate I have inside."
"Even if that was your intention, at least you returned my cousin back to us, along with his ch- child..." Hoseok stops, clearing his throat as he tries to swallow down his emotions, "...h- his and Yoongi's child."
