"Ash...it hurts so bad." I whispered, barely audible to myself.
"I know, Amra, I know." She whispered back, even quieter."It's so dark...Ash, it's so dark." I said, beginning to cry.
"Amra, hold my hand." She said. I used what little strength I had left to plop my hand in hers, squeezing her hand tight.
"I'm scared." I said, coughing up something red and warm.
"Don't, we'll be okay." She said closing her eyes.
I felt all of the energy I had minutes before rapidly leaving my body...leaving pain all over. There Ash and I lay, on the cold pavement of the cool August night. Everything hurt, I didn't know what to do. I closed my eyes and instantaneously the pain left.
As I slowly drift off into a deep, deep, rest... I heard Ash start to talk.
"Amra, I love you. You're my best friend...my sister...I'll always love you...remember that." She said...I nodded. "Remember that, okay?" She repeated.
"Okay." I smiled. "I love you too."And those were the last five words I said to my best friend...

"Amra...Hey..." I heard as a mystery man entered the confines of my cave, or my room. Which ever you prefer.
"Leave me alone." I said, still unsure of who this person was. I couldn't really tell if it was a boy or a girl, I was under my blankets and everything was muffled from my point of view.
"Amra, it's me, Jack." The voice said.
"Yeah, I know." I said, looking up from my pillow, and turning my head towards him. I was just kidding, hopefully he knew that.
"Well, Damn." He said, sitting on the end of my bed. He set his hand on my leg and I covered my face with my forearm. "You still tired?" He asked rubbing his hand up and down my leg.
"I'm always tired, Jack." I said. "But, yes, I didn't get much sleep last night...you know." I said. He gave me a nod as a silent, "I know."
"Wanna cuddle?" He asked, smirking. He wasn't being a pervert, or trying to get into my pants as the kids say these days. He just knows me well, and knows that I like to cuddle.
"My back hurts..." I said. "And my head, and my should-" he stopped me. "I know, Amra." He chuckled a bit under his breath.
"So is that a yes or a no?" He asked again. I opened my eyes and looked at the five year old at the end of my bed. "Get over here," I said. I watched as the giddy child hopped over me and cuddled under the blankets next to me. I won't lie, I didn't not like cuddling with him.
"If your tired go back to sleep, I'll be here." He said.
"Have you ever been tired and not wanted to sleep?" I asked curiously.
He chuckled as if the question was a joke. "No, why?" He finally said."Because I'm tired, but I don't want to sleep." I said. He scooted closer to me, his front to my back. "Thats okay, we can just lay here." He said, wrapping his arms around me.
This was all new to me, well, everything these days was new to me. But Jack? He's been my best friend since third grade, when I moved to Colorado from New York, during one of my dads "job transfers." I say it like that because it wasn't really...My mom and dad were arguing a lot, and my dad thought that a move would help. I mean, they were forced to live in New York for almost there whole lives, that's how they met. Anyways, it did work. We've been happy here since then, and I've had nothing to complain about. Well...except...never mind. Let's just say about six or seven months ago, on my death bed which I guess wasn't really my death bed seeing I'm still alive, Jack Finnegan Gilinsky spilled everything...and I mean, everything. He told me how he's been in love with me for years and he hasn't known how to tell me, but in the hospital he finally knew it was time. Ever since that day, it's been awkward on my part. Being in a coma, he would have expected me not to hear anything he said...but I did. All of it. He doesn't know, and unless my feelings change, I plan to keep it that way.
