That was going through Ruby Rose's head after staring at the man go limp and his blood stained her face. This wasn't supposed to happen. This wasn't supposed to happen!

The gaping hole in his chest would forever be branded into her memory and burn for years to come.
She opened her mouth to call for help but stopped in fear that the little creature would come back once it heard her calls. Or maybe the big ones.
Static and dizziness filled her head, making her thoughts blur. The man had given her advice, told her how to escape but there was one thing clear on her mind. He's dead.
His ribs had snapped and broke open like twigs. . .
Have to get out!
Her silver eyes darted around the dark room. Her breathing became ragged, on the verge of hyperventilating. Despite feeling the panic rise in her, she sensed the danger was still-the eggs. There were so many and every one of them had a parasitic organism ready to latch onto her face like the people next to her.
Why didn't she listen? Why didn't she stop her friends?
The Atlassian lieutenant visiting Signal was warning them. Telling them to stay away. Why didn't they listen?
Military ships flying over the island. People were missing.
Even her uncle and her dad had told her not to go.
And now her friends were gone.
My fault. . . it's all my fault.
All she wanted to do was help people. Was this the price for being naive? Why didn't they listen?! Why didn't she listen?! This wasn't fun! This wasn't like the stories Yang had read to her. Were they that naive to think they'd beat the bad guys and save the day? Yeah, they've defeated and killed Grimm. This will be easy.
Stupid, stupid, stupid, STUPID!
Now they were all dead-my fault-and she will be soon.

She couldn't deny the situation she was in. It wasn't some nightmare she'd wake up from. It was all real. The eggs, the black creatures-Not Grimm! -the dead people with torn chests, it was all real! The egg in front of her was real as the spindly creature inside. Ruby's heart was pounding in her chest so fast she felt like it was going to explode.
And because of her stupid actions, neither Yang or her father and uncle were going to save her.
She paused as she saw the flaps of the egg in front of her open up like a flower. Fingers began to wiggle out of the opening.
This was it. . . this was how she was going to die.
"Fuck."
