Serenity knew Damien forgot to take care of himself.

It was a stupid decision, she would later recognize when she was going up the elevator to the Council Chambers where the guards told her Damien was. She knew Damien probably ordered the guards to let her in - always.

Holding the first aid kit in her hands, Serenity was ready to motion for Damien to go up in his office so she could heal him, but something stopped her thought as she saw through the glass windows in the Council Chambers Damien speaking to someone.

The vampire had sleek long black hair coming to her waist, with glossy red lips and eyes sharp and cunning. Serenity had never seen someone look so elegant before in her life. Looking at what she wore herself, she almost ran back to her closet. A ratty t-shirt and ripped jeans that she needed to sew back in order. No one wore ripped clothing. Seeing who Damien surrounded himself with all the time, it was a wonder why he bothered with her.

Iggy gave her clothes, but she hadn't bothered to look at them. All of it was too much. Serenity knew the only reason Damien didn't care was because of them being mates. Did he like me for who I am? Actually, Serenity thought grimly, did he even like me?

And why did she find herself caring about that?

"Lily, I didn't think you would have come so soon," she heard someone in the Council say. Of course she would have such a fitting name. Lily was as beautiful as her namesake, the flower. Lily glanced over at Serenity through the glass. Their eyes met, and Serenity tried to smile - there was no reason why she would dislike this vampire. Maybe she could be her friend.

Lily, however narrowed her eyes, and looked away.

Damien followed Lily's gaze, and held onto Serenity's. He opened his mouth, his face forming into something like a smile, but Serenity felt stupid. Out of place.

She turned on her heel, and nearly ran out of there.

Damien followed her out of Grand Lobby, into the back where the trainings usually were held, but there was no training today. Her usual place was in the trail in the back where the pond was. Her favorite spot to go walking. Where she would walk with Damien.

She wished he didn't come after her. Wished he would just go there with the fancy vampire council. Back with Lily where it looked like he belonged.

"Serenity - why are you in such a rush?" Damien asked. She knew he could easily catch up with her if he actually used his speed.

Whoosh.

He did. Suddenly, he was right in front of her. She bumped into him causing the first aid kit to go flying. Damien went after it, and when he saw what it was, he studied her.

"I don't think it's that bad anymore." Damien lifted his shirt up, looking at his side that was still bandaged. There was a glint in his eyes though, full of mischief. Serenity had once appreciated his physique, his muscular body was right in front of her face as she healed him, but this wasn't something she would let go. He wasn't taking his healing seriously.
