Jiro's POV
Last night was extraordinarily confusing. Like; How did Kaminari reappear as a ghost?! That can't be real, right?! It's not possible. None of it was. But Sero's culture said if we did that, on the Day of the Dead, the possibility of seeing spirits was high, but I didn't believe it. Not until I saw Denki standing right in front of us, with the softest, kindest face I have ever seen him wear. He was at peace and he wasn't in any pain so that was good.
I was sitting in class and found myself zoning out just like Kaminari used to but I had no problem with it. Iida never scolded anyone for zoning out anymore. He used to do that a lot to Kaminari but since he passed, Iida stopped. As did most things in the class, although we were all trying our best to remain normal like Kami asked, but we couldn't help but change. Bakugo, for one, had stopped calling us by nicknames, unless he was just stuffing around, other than that, he actually made an effort to call us by our actual names. Even Midoriya.
When the bell sounded for lunch, we made our way to the cafeteria and grabbed our trays and food. When we went to find somewhere to sit and eat together, Kendo from 1B stood up and waved us all over with a smile. I then notice Tetsutetsu pull over another table and Awase weld it to their own, allowing us all to sit and eat with them.
"How have you guys been holding up?" Shiozaki questioned.
"We've been OK." Hagakure replied with what I could only assume was a smile, even though I couldn't see it.
"Sero introduced us to their culture," Toga continued. "And because of it, we were able to see Kaminari last night. As a ghost."
I zoned out as she began to explain everything that they did and what had happened, Sero nodding and adding something every now and then to make sure it was correct and such.
"Sounds like you guys had a very interesting night." Kendo smiled.
"We did, that's for sure, ribbit." Tsu ticked.
"It still hurts for the fact that he's not here with us any more, though..." Mina said quietly.
"Don't worry, mon amour." Aoyama replied as he leaned over and placed a small kiss on her cheek.
"Are you alright, Shinso?" Monoma questioned as he turned his gaze to him.
"I'm fine..." I notice Shinso poke at his food like his appetite had disappeared. "I just miss him."
"We all do, Shinso-kun." Uraraka spoke up.
"Yeah but you guys didn't lose a loved one." Shinso's gaze shot up with anger and hurt. "I lost the one person who loved me for me and you guys still have your girlfriends or boyfriends. And don't go saying stuff like 'ThEre ArE PlEnTy oF FiSh iN ThE SeA' because to me? There isn't. Denki was the one for me and he's gone..."
I give him a side hug to show that we're all grieving with him and that we're still here to talk to him if needed. One things, for sure. I hate to see my classmates like this but things happen and we can't control the outcome. That's the funny thing about life; It can be taken away just as quickly as it was made. Some die quicker than others and some live longer. My phone buzzed with a notification so I let go of Shinso and pick it up off the table. I notice it was a news alert. I like to be kept updated with that sort of stuff so I clicked on it to active it. I let out a gasp and a smile formed on my lips.
"What is it, Kyoka?" Momo questioned.
"I just got a news alert and get this;" I begin, looking at everyone to show I was addressing them all. "Kaminari's parents have sued the hospital and delivery service in Saitama for Denki's death...! I know it's nothing to be happy about but, he's finally getting the justice he deserves!"
"Good for his parents!" Tokage cried. "As some from Saitama, and I think Shinso could agree, but death toll in Saitama, from not getting medication, is scarily high for its own good. Maybe they'll take this opportunity of getting sued to make a change."
I watch as she bites down on a carrot rather aggressively.
"And if it makes anything better," Shinso began. "His parents are both Pro Heroes. Hence why they were never really around nor there for Denki when he needed them before he died."
"EVEN BETTER!"
"Who are his parents?" Midoriya asked as he perked up at the mention of Pro Heroes.
"Electricia and Static Charge."
"So Cool!"
We continued to eat our lunch and talk before we all headed to our classrooms together to get done with the rest of our day. Next, my class had maths with Mr. Ectoplasm Sensei and we had to study for a test. I remember 1B saying that they have their maths test in 6th period, last lesson of the day, and Kosei freaked out. When I asked him why, he told us that he had Dyscalculia. Basically, while Dyslexia is the term used for the struggle to read and understand written text, Dyscalculia is the term used to describe the struggle to read, write and understand equations with numbers.
I feel bad for him but we all gave him words of encouragement to just try his best. Now, as I sit at my desk, staring at the test page, that was turned face down, I waited for Mr. Ectoplasm to give us the signal to start. When he did, I turned the page over and began...
