Jiro's POV
I didn't like the fact that Toga was in our class but, considering her reasoning behind leaving the LOV, I was actually happy to know that she wasn't Transphobic. I was standing next to YaoMomo as Aizawa explained the training exercise. Apparently we were just going to be doing some running. I flash a look to Bakugo and see his face slightly drain of colour. Hopefully his chest wouldn't give him any crap. Although he wasn't wearing his binder, he still had to be careful as the sports bras he was wearing were slightly constricting his breathing. Aizawa blew on a whistle and we all began to run. I was running beside YaoMomo and some of the others, the Bakusqaud and Dekusqaud scattered around. Iida seemed to be leading the pack which was no surprise. As I pumped my arms, Toga seemed to slow down; trying to conserve her energy and stamina.
"Oh!" Toga smiled as she realised I ran right next to her. "Hello, Jiro-san!"
I just ignore her and run faster. We continue like this till there were 5 minutes of the lesson left. As I stood by the rest of the class, hands on my hips and panting like mad, I glance over to Bakugo. He seems to be struggling for breath. When Aizawa-sensei allowed us to go and get changed, I sped walked over to Bakugo. He flashed me a sideways glance and I send him a reassuring smile. I decide to help him to the change rooms.
When we get there, I grab his things and pass them under the door to the toilet stall. He takes them and sends me a quiet thanks.
"You shouldn't bind, Bakugo." I say as I change in my own stall. "You'll make it harder to breath."
"..." He remained quiet until he decided to speak up. "I know but I'm not risking them asking about it. I'm not ready."
"I understand. I'm not ready either. How about this; If you end up coming out or get outed somehow, I'll come out to."
"...And vice-versa. No way am I letting you suffer alone."
I smile as I exit my stall. He surely doesn't show that he cares but I've noticed; the moment we're alone together, his cold exterior falls and shows his true self. Once he's out of his own stall, we walk side-by-side back to the classroom.
---
When we make it back to the dorms after school, I catch Bakugo head straight to his room. It's understandable. He was struggling all day but refused to go to Recovery Girl like I suggested countless times. I decide to leave him for a bit before deciding to go and see him. As I stood by his door and knocked, it took a few moments before he opened it and allowed me in. I was the only one he ever allowed in his room. It was a simple style really; a bookshelf lined with various things plus his collection of manga. He had posters of bands and an All Might figure on his nightstand. I sat on his bed, which had black bed sheets, and made myself at home.
"You alright, man?" I question as I notice him wearing an extremely oversized hoodie. He had clearly taken his binder off.
"I'm fine." He grumbled. "But I can't wear it again for a while. So I'm staying in my dorm until dinner."
"But you still have to come out and eat."
"And that's when I'll put my binder back on, eat then come back to my room and take it off again."
I was a little sceptical at his decision but I didn't press my concerns but I also didn't want to watch as he hurt himself. I was torn between two different decisions so I remained silent on the topic. Instead, we just sat and talked until dinner.
When we sat down for dinner, I looked through my fringe to catch Bakugo's gaze. I watched as he drew in a deep breath before taking a bite. Kirishima seems to notice this and shoots me a gaze. I simply shake my head giving him two options to interpret it from either 'I don't know' or 'I'm not going to say.' Hopefully he takes the first option but the small frown etched into his brows states otherwise.
'Shit. He's gonna want to know.' I avoid eye contact with the red head.
After dinner, Bakugo does just as he said he would; he excuses himself from the table and heads straight to his room. as soon as he disappears, Kirishima walks up to me.
"Hey, Jiro."
"Hey, Kirishima. What can I do for you?"
"Do you know why Bakugo was struggling to breath during dinner?"
"Nope."
"... You're lying. Come on Jiro...! I won't tell anyone; you know...!"
"... You got me. I am lying. I do know what's wrong but I'm not saying. It's not my place. Maybe talk to him tomorrow."
"Sure..."
I notice how Kirishima's frown returns as he turns away and goes back to the rest of the Bakusquad. I notice him pull the other members close and each of them shooting me, somewhat, accusing glances. I let out a sigh and head over to where YaoMomo was standing with Hagakure, Ojiro and the other 'Side characters' of the class. I looked over to see Toga sitting on one of the small couches, alone, and seemingly not wanting to intervene with anyone. Shinso had found his place with the Bakusquad while Toga still seemed to be an;
"Outcast..." I whispered.
"What's wrong, Jiro?" Tokoyami questioned.
"Huh? Nothing. Don't worry about it." I raise my voice and wave at Toga. "Toga! Come hang with us."
I notice Toga perk up at the invitation and wander over with a smile. She may be an Ex-villain but even she deserves a second chance. She joins the group and immediately melts into the conversation; all of us laughing and chatting like we've known her for years. Maybe having Toga in the class and as a friend may not be so bad.
