Simone Victoria Morgenstern could see in the pitch darkness of her heavily guarded cell in the silent city. They didn't even bother to feed her or tell her when her trial was. She knew that her brothers were probably scouring the world for any sign of her. Even Lucian didn't know where she was, and he was there with her!
She sighed. She obviously could see because of the small amount of demon blood in her system, and some of her mother's home made runes kept her in decent condition. But still, she was ticked. How dare they?
Then, she heard the annoying mental voice of Brother Enoch. You have a visitor. She looked up, curiosity in every part of her entire being. The silent brother left, but leaving the cement door open. Soon, a woman walked in.
She had long dark red hair, and a round face. She had bright green eyes the color of spring grass. She looked to be in her forties. She took a seat near the left wall. "Hello,
Simone. Is that your name?" At her nod, the woman continued. "My name is Jocelyn Graymark. I am your grandmother."
"You look like your mother. It is deceiving. But I know you have your father's soul. Clarissa's angel blood may have given you light, but Jonathan's blood still runs through your veins like slime. I pity you. Looking at me with those emotionless green pits, those glassy broken fish eyes, never seeing the past, present or future."
"I bet you didn't realize it, but I'm wearing white. I am currently mourning the loss of my young son. Clarence was his name. Clarence James Graymark. He would be your uncle. He was killed brutally by my son, Jonothan Christopher Morgenstern. By Jace's account on the event, Jonathan killed his half brother out of jealousy and fear that if my daughter found out about him, she would leave him to be with us again."
"My daughter was the only child I had back then that was not contaminated by Valentine. But, she ended up getting off even worse by being violated by her demon brother, and being forced to bare and spawn his three children. To spread her legs and give birth to three children who were practically cursed by the devil at birth."
"Of course, I could blame this all on Valentine. But even him would have been disgusted by your father. It was never Valentine's intention of Jonathan having children. The moment Jonathan was born Valentine regretted creating Jonathan. I secretly weep for my poor late husband."
"Sorry for my rant. I needed to get it out of my system. I have come to let you know something. The Clave has scheduled your trial for tommorow. They are pondering on if to strip your marks, sentence you to life in the silent city, or.... death."
"If they do that, then you'd be the youngest shadow hunter to be sentenced to death, or imprisoned. I'm guessing you are around nine." She continued in a soft voice. "In my opinion, nine is far too young to kill, or be killed. "
"You may be your father's daughter, but you are also my daughter's daughter. Which means I have to at least care for you. I do. So know, that I will try to lighten your sentence. I must go, but know this; at your age, children are still being tucked in at night. But your father has you killing people instead."
With a swish of white robes,Jocelyn was gone. And Simone stayed silent.
