Shaurya observes as his sister attempts to pull off a sly smile with her narrowed eyes which seems to be an impossible task with her child pulling her cheeks with her chubby hand.

He smirks, resuming reading through the research papers of his students, patiently waiting for his sister.

Naina comes and sits on the bed, not before depositing little Reet in her brother’s lap.

The man takes hold of the baby with a grin, as opposed to what Naina had though, he would react it. Well, of course he would, both his sister and this baby would go back to their other home, or ‘Sasural’ as they call it, and even though he wouldn’t ever admit, he will miss his sister as much he’ll miss the baby.

“So,” she exclaims with a sly smile. Shaurya lets her have the moment.

“Anything I can help you with, my dear 48 months older sister? Perhaps a bottle of toner for your rapidly wrinkling face or maybe a packet of hair dye for those white hair. Tsk, it’s almost saddening to see you get old, older sister.”

He sees as his sister gapes at her, every hint of smugness dying on her face, as she subconsciously pats at her face and then her hair. And Shaurya as a dear brother takes pity on her before she gets too stressed regarding these things even though he knows she is just here to rub salt on his wounds.

“Just kidding.” He lies like an angel he is.

Naina huffs, narrowing her eyes yet again before they gain their prior smugness. “Whatever.” She says, and sits back leisurely.

“So…” she drawls. “We went to see your future wife.”

He feigns a sigh. “Really? Without me? That’s sad.”

“She’s just as cute as two months ago.”

Oh, he bet she is.

“Sadly, you haven’t’ been able to see her.”

He bet he has.

“And you would not be able to see her for many more months to come.”

He bet he will.

“That’s a pity.” He says and leaves it that.

Naturally it doesn’t sit well with his sister. She narrows her eyes.

“You don’t sound too sad. Aren’t you dying to see her anymore just like you were a few days ago?”

“I don’t know, am I?” He deadpans. “Can I go see her?”

“No!” Naina immediately says but her suspicion doesn’t go away.

“Have you been meeting her secretly?” she asks then.

Shaurya feigns an epiphanous ‘oh’. “That’s a good idea. Why didn’t I think of it before? Thank y–”

Though before he can complete his act, Naina dials a number on her phone.

“Who are you calling?” He asks, urgent and his siter gives him a sickly-sweet smile. “Your future wife, of course. I’m sure she won’t lie to me.”

Oh, she wouldn’t indeed.

“About what? Ask me. I won’t allow you to disturb her. She’s – she’s busy. She should be at her job.”

“It’s the weekend.”

Oh no. This is bad.

If his cute and innocent and angel like Rati tells her the truth, it would be over. They won’t be able to meet secretly. They would not be able to meet at all.
