3 || you what?

KEHLANI was a little scared to say the least, when she saw her fathers white car waiting outside for her. she was confused mainly because her mother was supposed to pick her up. school usually finished around 3:30 and right now it was 3:40 her father hated when she was even the slightest late and even worse she was with charlie staying a bit behind to watch some of his hockey practice. 

she scurried over to the car before opening up the door and hopping inside. the car quickly started up before she took her usual route to her father's house. 

it was quiet, to quiet, kehlani hated it when it was quiet because that meant he was mad. a statement cut her out of her thinking. " do you know how long i was waiting out there for you? " " i know daddy i'm sorry. " she truly wasn't she just didn't want her father to be mad at her. " how many times do i have to tell you if i have to wait out here for you again i'm coming into that school and dragging you out. " kehlani sat there in silence she didn't even know what to say besides muttering a small ok, but she knew what might make her father happy " i got back that math test from the other day. " " how much did you get? " she quickly started shuffling through her grey backpack pulling out a piece of paper a 95 in red ink at the top, she couldn't lie and say she wasn't proud of herself.

" oh, how much did topanga get? " kehlani shrugged, in all honesty she didn't know she had math last session so she had no time to share text marks with her friends. she's happy for that to because if topanga got more than her she would never hear the end of it.

the drive was silent before kehlani asked her father to drop her off at chubbies for something to eat then she would make it home by dinner. usually her father would slap her across the face for even the slightest suggestion but he had work so he allowed it.

her dirty white converse slapped against the floor of the restaurant, she expected to see her best friends in the establishment but she didn't expect to see shawn with a girl who looked like she deserved to be front and center on a magazine. she had long bouncy brown hair unlike kehlani's own coily 4c hair which was currently up in a puff, she had beautiful smooth pale skin, a complete contrast to the girls beautiful dark skin which had quite a few acne scars. the girl had open her mouth to let out a laugh and flashed beautiful pearly whites. when kehlani herself had braces. she just looked perfect, kehlani was currently questioning if she wanted to be her or be with her, mostly be her because she felt kinda insecure about herself seeing this gorgeous girl with the guy she maybe likes and she knew that this was a date from the way cory was watching them from a completely different table.

she didn't say anything walking in and was fighting the urge to turn around and go home. but fought it and went to go sit next to her brillo headed best friend.

" hi cor " she said

" oh hey lani. when'd u get here? " the boy questioned

"my dad just dropped me off to get something to eat then i'll walk home after. what are you doing here because shawn is obviously having alot of fun on his little date. " the dark-skinned girl tone dripped with jealousy.

" you seem jealous. well i don't blame you she's one of the hottest girls in school i would kill for a date with her. " cory laughed.

fidgeting with the sleeve of her pink jacket she cursed about how she didn't care and how she wasn't jealous. at the mention of the pair she looked over to their table to see them kissing.

oh.

was all she could manage out of her mouth before picking up her backpack and dashing out of the chubbies. she could hear cory shouting for her but she didn't care she didn't care that she would probably go home on an empty stomach. she did not care, tears were pricking in her eyes and one blink from streaming down her face. she just stood there not knowing what to do.

" hey! you just ran outta there did something happen? " her bestfriend ran up to her slightly red from the amount of running he had to do.

" oh uhm it's nothing i just need to get home. " she really did she just wanted to cry in her room for a week and never come out.

cory would've believed her if it wasn't for the tears in her eyes and the sniffles she let out. he quickly rushed over to her.

" hey what's wrong?" he questioned.

she decided she would finally let it out, he was her best friend after all.

" i like shawn. "

"you what? "

"well i think i do. "

" are you serious? "

" yes i am. "

" from since when? "

" i don't know. i've felt like this for a while kinda. "

" i thought you didn't like him after all because every time he flirts with you you shoot him down. "

" i know. i just- i just don't know how to respond because i know he isn't being serious. maybe i could've confessed someday but i can't shawn has girls piling up left and right to be with him and we haven't even been here that long. so that's why i'm gonna bottle it up til' either one of us is on our deathbeds. "

" why didn't you tell me earlier? " 

" i don't know maybe cause im just coming to terms with it but im telling you now. which means you can never tell him cory or else i will never speak to you again and i will shave your eyebrows off while you sleep. "

" ok fine. i won't tell him but you will i promise you. "

" funny that you think that but ok cor. "

" if you want we can go back to my house and eat my mom's making spaghetti tonight. "

" that sounds nice cor. "

not alot of shalani interactions or kehlie interactions because i was tryna focus more on kehlani and her friendship with cory etc etc so yh.

i love the " wait i think i like him trope. " tbh but anyways i know i left from since august but im back so hope u like this new chap lovess.

i also edited the book a bit because i can so the only that really changed was the casting page and desc!!
