Chapter 14

I awoke the next morning late and had to remind myself of my schedule for classes as I rushed to get dressed. When I was done I found myself sinking to the floor beside my bed, tears leaking down my cheeks which I swiped away as quickly as they came. I didn’t want to be back at the academy, back to this place of horror, I thought to myself.

I really thought my mom would have taken me with her but I knew that she was doing her best and that Elliott was there to help protect me too, that both my mom and dad trusted him. I wanted to see Blaze though, I wanted to feel his strong arms around me, wanted to hear the sound of his voice and see the care in his eyes. I missed him and I was still so confused about so much. I would go looking for him before heading to class since I couldn’t be late twice.

I tucked the knife at my ankle in my sock making sure the safety was on and slid the map that was still in a ziplock bag into my hoodie pocket.

As soon as I exited the room I was greeted by Elliott standing outside my door leaning against the wall.

“Hi,” he said a half smile on his face although from his eyes I could tell that he hadn’t gotten much sleep after driving my mom from the Academy and driving back here.

“Hey,” I said back unable to smile back in return and instead dropping my gaze to his shoes.

“Did my mom get a room for the night?” I asked.

“Yeah, she did. She’s okay Ace, don’t worry,” he assured me.

I nodded and glanced at my phone checking the time.

“I’m late, I should go,” I said letting out a sigh thinking of the day ahead of me.

“I’ll see you later,” I said turning to go and not waiting for his response.

“Ace,” he called and I paused looking back.

“I’m supposed to accompany you everywhere,” he said meeting my gaze.

“No you don’t, I get that my mom wants you to keep an eye on me and make sure I’m safe but I’m not even sure if you’re even allowed to stay here,” I responded.

“Trust me, I made sure that I was granted access and my room is actually on the opposite block,” he said smiling. The girl’s rooms were a distance away from the guys yet Elliott somehow was able to get a little close to me by getting a room that was a five minute walk from my dorm.

“That’s…good,” I said since he was smiling still. I mean we did share a room not so long ago. And a lot had happened in that small space of time. I shook my head trying to eliminate the thought which wasn’t hard to do considering my mood.

“I’ll see you later, I’m sure my mom didn’t mean that you had to follow me around literally,” I said finally gazing at him.

He looked nice, I had to admit. He was dressed in jeans and a blue V-neck sweater that hugged his muscled frame. He also smelt of his axe cologne, freshly showered I could tell.

I decided that I didn’t want to stick around again and turned abruptly to leave as I started heading in the direction of Blaze’s office.

“Hey, class isn’t this way,” Elliott said from behind me and I turned around annoyed.

“You’re not serious,” I said shaking my head.

“Its day time, no one is going to jump out at me while I’m in the academy,” I said shooting him a glare.
