A week had passed by, Brylie had never felt more hurt than she had in her whole life. But like the last problem she had, she buried it deep inside her. She hadn't seen Ghost since they hooked up, and that was a good thing for her.
Today was a mission to save an orphanage from Russian troops surrounding it. They had flown out the day before, and now it was almost sunset. She sat on the hangar floor, cleaning her rifle. The mission seemed odd to her, but she never questioned orders.
"What are you doin out here, Corporal?" Soap asks, walking towards her. She could see Ghost standing up in the tower with Captain Price and Lizzy.
"Exactly what it looks like." She answered, putting her rifle back together.
"Someones got a temper." He snickered, kneeling down in front of her. "Seriously Hunter. What's up?" She looked up at the tower, seeing him look back at her.
"Nothing." She glared up at the tower, then looked down at her rifle.
"You're not a very good liar." Soap sighed, "I know this is about Ghost. He used you, didn't he?" The look in Brylie's eyes said everything. He cursed in his native language, and sighed. "Wait here." He stood up, walking away.
"Where else would I go?" She called, earning the middle finger from Soap. That made her feel a little better. Soap had gotten good at reading Ghost, he knew he wasn't the best at expressing emotions. But in his mind, there was never a woman in the whole world that Ghost would use, so this sounded down right cruel for him to do so.
Soap walked into the tower, taking the elevator up. He walked through the doors, glaring daggers at Ghost. Luckily he was the only one in the tower at the moment.
"Its none of your business." Ghost growled, not even looking at his friend. Soap knew Ghost could lip read, which made it hard to keep secrets from him.
"You're an idiot. That girl loves you, and you just used her. I dont know how, but she didn't hide it." Soap snapped.
"You think I don't know she loves me?" Ghost snapped. It scared him that she loved him, he wasn't used to that kind of love, not that he had ever tried to look for it.
"So you were just using her? You have absolutely no feelings for her?" Soap narrowed his eyes on Ghost.
"I wasn't using her." Ghost shook his head. "She know's I wasn't using her." Ghost knew that was exactly what she had thought. Every minute for the past week it had been eating away at him, all because he couldn't man up and tell her how he felt.
"I don't think she does." He pointed down into the hanger, where Brylie sat against the wall, her knees tucked close and her head resting on her arms. Her eyes looked puffy, like she had been crying. That was the last thing he ever wanted to do. He hated seeing her cry, he didn't like the way all the years of hurt and betrayal could be seen in her beautiful blue eyes.
"Shit." He closed his eyes, balling his fists. The image of her smiling while wrapped up in his arms. He remembered the way she looked at him, her bright blue eyes filled with love. He remembered the happiness that filled her face whenever he was around her, and the way he felt when she would look at him across the room before the day he finally made a move. It was the most incredible feeling he had ever had. Then he thought back to the night they made love, the way she laid naked before him, encouraging him to put his hands on her body like she had trusted him not to hurt her. And that's exactly what he had done.
"You don't have time right now to make things work. But you do have time to cover her six when she needs it. She'll do the same for you, you know that." Soap patted Ghost on the shoulder before exiting the tower. He knew that, even though he had hurt her, Brylie was loyal to those above her...and to those who loved her.
