Lucy, of course, was placed at the desk directly beside Natsu, so he could embarrass himself in any and every way possible. "I expect you all show Lucy how kind this school really is," Koshiyoka-Sensei said, glaring at Jackson, the class bully.
But Natsu's eyes were focused on Lucy. She was nervously smiling, aware of Koshiyoka-Sensei's hand on her shoulder. She looked like a nice person, someone not to be avoided.
Looked like someone Natsu wanted to get to know.
After Lucy sat down in her seat behind Natsu and class resumed, Natsu began to doodle on his worksheet. At first, out of boredom, he just drew a little flower with five petals. But then he drew another set of pedals, and another. By now it was a huge, beautiful flower. Natsu had been drawing since he was little; It had been a result of his vast imagination.
Suddenly, he felt Lucy's glare on his paper from behind him. His eyes widened, but he dare not turn around.
"Wow," he heard her whisper. "You're really good!"
Natsu laughed quietly. "Not really." He could sense that this new girl was making a face or something behind him.
"No- Really! That's beautiful.. I wish I could draw like that," she quietly said. Natsu put down his blue mechanical pencil and turned around to face her.
"I recommend taking the school's art class. I take it, and it helps a lot. The teacher, Levy-san, is really nice," Natsu suggested. Lucy look interested.
"Sure! That sounds great!" Lucy exclaimed, trying to keep her voice quiet. "Oh- I'm Lucy."
Natsu grinned. "I'm Natsu. Nice to meet you."
The two had quietly talked until algebra ended. Natsu waved Lucy goodbye as he headed towards his locker.
Natsu couldn't stop thinking about Lucy, his potential friend. She was nice, beautiful, and wanted to draw - Everything that Natsu could ask for. But he didn't want end everything with a simple confession. He wanted to be friends, nothing more.
Natsu spent the whole next period, which was English, thinking about Lucy and doodling on notebook paper.
