Natsu stared into the mirror, his dark grey eyes focusing at his unruly pink hair. He hated how he looked, his eyes too slanty, his nose too erect, his lips too flat. The everlasting frown he wore warded off almost everyone he met.  "I hate my life," he said quietly.

There was nothing extraordinarily unpleasant about Natsu's life ; Except for the constant bullying, lack of kindness and friendship, and disappointing grades. McDonald's didn't even accept his job application, so he was poor, and once his father had went missing, he'd had to move to a one room apartment. Eventually, Natsu had found multiple jobs (he had to work three to keep up with supplies and rent money), but still..

Natsu would shave his hair, or get a haircut, but his father had told him it was what made him so unique, right before he'd went missing. Sure, Natsu had contacted the police, but they hadn't believed him, and banned him from the police office.

Natsu sighed, stroking his hair back. If he didn't leave now, he would be late. I don't want to be bullied for that, Natsu thought. Slipping on a pair of worn down sneakers, he closed the door behind him.

Natsu silently sat at his desk, staring tediously at Koshiyoka-Sensei as he gestured to the Algebra problems carefully written on the whiteboard in blue marker. Math looked like an alien language to Natsu sometimes. Natsu silently imagined Koshiyoka-Sensei as an alien, with blue skin and slimy tentacles. It was times like this that Natsu wished he didn't have such a vast imagination ; It only made vital subjects like math more difficult to understand.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the classroom door. Almost everyone in the classroom turned their head to see who had knocked at a time like this, as almost everyone had been bored (except for the math geeks (no offense, math geeks)). Natsu sighed of disappoint as Scarlet-sensei, the counselor of the tenth grade, gestured for Koshiyoka-sensei to come and chat.

"I'm sorry, class. I have to talk to Scarlet-san for a moment. Please remain in your seats and quiet," Koshiyoka-sensei concluded, setting some papers on his desk.

"Finally," Natsu muttered. He shifted in his uncomfortable plastic chair, pulling his white scarf up to his lips.

The two teachers talked quietly, and Natsu tried to make out the words. Being too far away to hear properly, he just watched as Scarlet-sensei gestured to something - Natsu realized it was a third-person, a girl. Great. Another classmate to avoid, Natsu thought, frowning.

As the two concluded their conversation, the door shut behind Scarlet-sensei and Koshiyoka-sensei entered the room with a girl. The girl had long, vibrant blonde hair and big brown eyes. She reminded Natsu of a puppy, frightened but curious about the new environment that surrounded her. She wore a tight blue and white vest, and short brown shorts. Natsu looked her over again.

She's actually, Natsu thought, his eyebrows raising, kind of pretty.

"Class, this is a new student that will be attending the tenth grade. Please, ma'am - Introduce yourself," Koshiyoka-san explained, his face void of emotion. He looked as if he could care less about a new student.

"Hi, uh, nice to meet you all. I'm Lucy Heartfilia," she said, smiling.
