Evelyn sits on the couch with her glasses on reading
"I didn't know you needed glasses?" Polly says walking in coming to sit with her Evelyn looks up at Polly over her glasses
"Yes well I don't like to wear them much, what do you need Pol." Evelyn says going back to her book
"What made you think I needed anything." Polly says fidgeting
"Well your tone it's all different what did you do?" Evelyn asks closing her book taking her glasses off
"Okay well I told Tommy about...your run in with inspector Campbell and now he may or may not be coming to chat with you about it." Polly says Evelyn looking up at Polly wide eyed
"Polly! You know how Thomas is going to be I don't want to do anything with that man I'm- I'm not doing that life anymore." Evelyn stammered  just then Tommy walks in

"What the hell were you doing meeting him Eve?" Tommy gets straight to the point Evelyn's eyebrows furrowing in confusion
"What do you mean I never met up with him he found me." Evelyn said defending her case
"Polly said he wanted information out for you blackmailing you." Tommy says
"Blackmailing you about what exactly?" Tommy says Evelyn visibly tensing
"My dad was apart of the Scottish regiment during WW1 he was....a spy and I later got in the mix of it never going out on the field just.... getting some information." Evelyn says Thomas looking at her Polly's eyebrows raised
"So he was a spy? And taught you." Thomas says flatly Evelyn shaking her head

"Yes, but he's out of that business done with it he never wanted to get back in it." Evelyn says
"What would happen if this information got out?" Thomas asks already knowing the answer
"Me and my family being in danger." Evelyn says flatly but her leg bouncing from the nerves Polly putting her hand over her thigh.
"Evelyn dear it's fine we won't let anything get out." Polly says turning to Tommy looking at him sternly
"Right?" She says to him he nods
"Good that we got that cleared up but I have things to do." Thomas sighs out leaving the living room Evelyn looking down at her fidgeting hands
"Eve it's ok dear no reason to worry." Polly says lifting the girls chin to look at her

"I know, but I just worry for my family's safety." Evelyn says Polly holding on to her
"There's no reason to worry they've been safe for this long." Polly says Evelyn finally nodding
"I think I'm going to write to them to see how they're doing." Evelyn says getting up from the sofa going to grab a pencil and paper.
"Just to see how they're doing." Evelyn adds sitting at the table vigorously writing
"Eve you need to relax they'll be fine." Polly says coming up behind Evelyn hugging her shoulders
"I know dear but I can't help but worry." Evelyn says turning her head to look at Polly pecking her lips
"Well don't while I'm away I need to go. Tommy wants to meet up with me, John, and Arthur." Polly says stepping out of the room Evelyn going back to the letter finishing it off and grabbing her coat to take it out to the post. She walks down the street the street lights turning on Evelyn seeing two figures in the distance she eyes them down the figures becoming two young men. Men she knows quite well

"Michael? Isiah? What are you both doing out at this hour?" Evelyn asks looking the two boys over
"Oh we just thought we would go out for a couple drinks. Want to come with?" Michael asks Evelyn shaking her head walking past the two
"I need to go deliver something I hope to see you both at a reasonable hour later." Evelyn says strict towards the two
"Jesus you sound like mum!" Michael says groaning well I am fucking her Evelyn holds back a laugh from the thought.
"What is it?" Isiah asks looking at the woman
"Nothing to concern you, now go before I drag you back home myself." Evelyn says walking away from the two boys going down to the post slipping the letter into the box. Evelyn turns back around walking down the street deciding to go stop by to see Ada what does she have to lose. She knocks on the door a tall chap opening the door

"Who are you?" He asks looking at Evelyn
"Evelyn and you are?" Evelyn says hearing a rustling in the background
"Ah Eve nice for you to stop by this is James." Ada says sitting back in her chair the paper long forgotten in her hands. Evelyn glances over at the boy looking him over
"Don't worry about needing to tell Thomas about him he's not interested in me or in girls of any kind." Ada says the boy looking over at her
"Ada!" He warns
"What! She can't do anything definitely can't go to the police either." Ada says James finally putting two and two together his eyes wide in realization.
"Yes I don't like the opposite sex very much either James, now close your mouth your catching flies." Evelyn says sitting on the sofa
"What is it you need?" Ada asks
"Oh I was just going to drop off some post and I thought of coming over here it's far to boring being by myself right now." Evelyn says sighing laying back in the sofa getting comfortable
"Well I think I'll go Ada nice to meet you Evelyn." James says Evelyn sending him off with a nod

Time skip

Evelyn starts to walk back to Polly's house wondering if Michael's back as she enters she sees Polly sitting on the chair looking at the paper looking up at Evelyn over the catalog.
"Where have you been dear?" She asks Evelyn sitting next to Polly bringing her into her lap
"Went to visit Ada love after I sent out the post, has Michael come back?" Evelyn asks  her head leaned on the crook of Polly's neck.
"Yeah he's back sent him up to his room after I saw a cut on his eyebrow. He's a grown man for a day or two and he's already getting into trouble." Polly shakes her head disapprovingly
"Aw leave him alone Pol he's just acting like a young adult I bet you were 10x worse as a kid." Evelyn says in her minds eye seeing a rebellious Polly, Polly giggling and peppering kisses around Evelyn's face the girl laughing.
"Alright, alright Pol come on let's get up to bed need to wake up early tomorrow." Evelyn says standing up Polly trailing behind her as they get up to her room Evelyn kicking off her shoes and taking off her jewelry.
"Today really was tiring." Evelyn says shortly changing into a slip and sliding under the comforter Polly combing out her curls
"Well why do t you get sleep dear you need it." Polly says walking up to the bed and laying against Evelyn's chest. Evelyn rubbing soothing circles on Polly's back
"Good night dear." Polly says her eyes fluttering shut
"Good night Pol." Evelyn says falling asleep her self.

This chapter is finally finished. Sorry it took so long school has been horrible lately I'll try updating more for both of my books!
