Beep. Beep. Beep

I groan, tossing in my bed as I hear my alarm clock going off. I press the snooze button just before my mom walks in preparing for her daily routine of waking me up.

Which by the way is no fun at all, involves a lot of dragging, yelling and getting water thrown at my face.

"You're up? Oh god, is it going to rain today?" she questions somewhat sarcastically.

Rolling my eyes at her, I push past her to my closet where I grab some clothes for the day.

I walk to my bathroom, shutting the door behind me. Taking a quick glance at my appearance, I grimace. My hair is all over the place, my eyes droopy and my clothes are a mess.

I climb into the shower after I make sure its hot. I then continue with my daily routine before putting on clothes.

I choose a black, knit sweater with some blue ripped skinny jeans and finally to finish the look, I put on my white converse. I braid my hair into a side braid and just put on a bit of mascara.

I made my way downstairs to the kitchen, grabbing an apple as I passed by.

"Leaving already?" my dad questioned placing the newspaper on the table.

"Yea, picking up Becky so we can go together" I told him with a tone asking as if it wasn't our yearly tradition.

"Oh ya, I forgot you guys do the whole breakfast thing at Timmies?" my dad asked/said.

"Yea dad, I'll see you later okay? I'll walk home."

"Alright, see you later honey"

Without replying I went outside, the soft breeze in the air made me smile. I made my way down my driveway and a few houses over to Becky's house.

Becky was on her porch, waving excitedly as she ran to me, "I'm so not ready for this term but I cannot wait for the new art program they offer" she said with a huge smile.

Our school had decided to advance our art program with the extra money we had and Becky was over the roof, happy.

Making our way to Timmies, we chatted about everything and anything, catching up on each others summers.

At Timmies, I ordered a medium hot chocolate and two chocolate danishes while becky ordered a medium hot chocolate and a chocolate doughnut.

We sat by the windows after we recieved our orders, everything was peaceful and normal until of course her current crush Patrick walked through the door along with two other football guys and... Hayes frigging Grier.

"Hey" Patrick said with a nod to her and I was sure if he wasn't still looking at her she would have fainted with excitement.

She of course only replied with a nod of her head and I gave her a quick kick in her knee as if to remind her again of the cute guy that was hoping to make a conversation with her.

She only ignored me after giving me a death stare. I shook my head at my best friend before taking small sips of my drink.

Just to my luck, Patrick brought his friends over to our table, dragging the chairs over as well.

I sat awkwardly not knowing what to do, so I sat watching outside observing what was happening outside.

"So...Ria planning on joining basketball?" asked one of the guys, was it Josh... or James.. or Jillian? Oh fuck it, who cares.

"Yea, hopefully I'll make it" I replied after debating in my head what would be a good answer.

"You probably will, you're good" he replied with a small smile. Does he have to compliment me? Honestly? I never knew what to do with  compliments so I just gave him a small smile in return, awkwardly turning back to my drink.

The guys started up a chat around football, Becky and I joining the chat ever so often. Then they switched to the topic of the cheerleader girls and I honestly wanted to poke my eyes out.

I did not see what they saw in them. Skinny, too cheerful, sleeping around with pretty much all the guys, rich and girls who didn't even try in school? Is that what guys wanted now?

With a shake of my head I turned my attention to my phone, my ears perking up when Hayes mentioned the name "Briana". He then continued about how he was still interested in her.

Well, pretty much they dated last year in grade 9 but then broke up when she cheated on him. I didn't understand why he was still hung up on her.

"I think we should probably get going now" I told mainly Becky as I started getting up.

She got up as well, and we awkwardly made it our of our table.

"Want a ride?" Patrick asked more towards Becky than me. She looked at me as if she was asking permission.

I shrugged my shoulders ,not really knowing what I wanted.

"We'll come" she answered for me.

Oh how wonderful. I'll be stuck in a car, with a bunch of guys, what an awkward experience.
