" And here it is, our final night alive
And as the earth burns to the ground "

the kibutsujis lived without any hiccups in their lives since muzan's transformation. then, the years passed without any suspicions about tamotsu or kameko's disappearance. that was just fine with muzan, no witnesses meant all was good. he didn't particularly like killing without any purpose. for example, he wouldn't kill any of the maids or butlers if he wasn't hungry or if they weren't witnesses to his crimes. although, with time, he would lose all morals and humanity. he was slowly being consumed by the evil thoughts and changing his ways.

the first sights of muzan's loss of humanity was that he began seeing himself as a figure above all other beings. he thought of humans as nothing more than a speck of dust on his coat, easy to flick away and dispose of if it got annoying. they were simply there for him to devour if needed. humans...he didn't trust them with anything, his secrets were his alone. he certainly didn't need anyone to rely on, nor did he want to make them feel pity. pity made him feel disrespected and he hated that feeling. being as powerful as he is, he refused to let anyone look down on him in the slightest.

with his grow in power and confidence, he went from being scared to kill people to being a threat to humanity from his sporadic murders. luckily, because of his families status, he wouldn't be suspected in the slightest. it was a curse, but also a blessing. in a sense of being a curse, he had far less time to eat people since he was pampered constantly. as for the blessing... well, you already know.

muzan sat quietly on the floor, drinking his tea as he met with his family for mealtime. he could barely stomach the foods he used to eat, but he pushed through it. it wouldn't be good for him to expose his true self. to that he said, he would gradually get used to eating the same foods again. he had no plans of dying anytime soon. might as well act as human as he can be.

"mother, how have the servants been? it's been quite worrisome to know that they have been disappearing..." muzan just had to keep up this nice facade while he could. he feigned his fear as he 'nervously' fidgeted with the hem of his clothing. his parents looked at him with sadness, not wanting their precious son to have to fear anything.

"do not fret, my dear. this... murderer seems to be killing the common folk only." nao placed a reassuring hand on muzan's shoulder. a warm and gentle smile graced her lips, though as kind as it could be with her words. muzan's parents thought they were above all others as well. the common folk were simple the pawns on the board.

"oh, thank you, mother. your words are truly comforting." muzan smiled warmly back at his mother. behind such an innocent smile was a scoff. his parents were foolish. they would dare to think of themselves as greater than him? if only they knew...

muzan had plans to kill his parents, but he needed them, for mainly financial reasons. he was the only heir, so he would easily receive all the money. however, if he acted too rash, he could expose himself. he could easily kill them all, but... it would far too easy, rather dull.

he had a plan... and it would come to fruition soon enough.

the marrow in your bones "
