Skeppy ran. He ran as fast as his legs could carry him. He ignored how bits of ice trailed in the grass behind him. He didn't have time to worry about his powers slipping. He had to get to the Egg. At least, that was what he and Bad had been calling it. They couldn't think of a better name yet, unless they wanted to call it 'The Anomaly' or something. So 'The Egg' just kind of stuck.

It did resemble an egg quite a bit. Which meant Skeppy really wanted to impale it with as many ice spears as possible. But they were trying to keep it contained at the moment. Maybe study it if they had time. It had been almost 3 months since what people were calling 'The Finale'. In his opinion, it wasn't that big of a turning point. It was well known that you can never truly kill a god. Which meant XD still lived, no matter how weakly.

Of course he didn't tell them that. There were enough demi-gods among them for them to figure it out themselves. That was, if they were being naive. Skeppy paused for a second so that he could prepare to scramble up the well. He took a few breaths to remind himself that he had done this before. He let himself feel the wind blowing through his hair. Then he jumped. Skeppy landed in water before quickly shaking out his legs and sprinting down the hall.

Bad had gone down for a routine check, and not long after their alarm bell had been sounded. Skeppy turned sharply around the corner, grimacing when he slid into the stone wall. That would probably leave a mark. His arm ached the rest of the way through the tunnels. He finally caught sight of Bad, who was pacing anxiously in front of the last staircase.

"There you are!" Bad exclaimed, relief coursing through his tone.

"I ran as fast as I could. What's the alarm?" Skeppy replied, placing his hands on his knees as he took in large gulps of air.

"I think that it's breaching the wall you set up." Bad said, twisting his fingers together.

"Like, as in breaking it, or the wall is just in need of a tune up?" Skeppy asked, running his hand through his hair.

"I think it's breaking it." Bad said, practically a whisper. Skeppy stood up straight and focused on the presence in the room. No, Bad was right. It was definitely stronger than the last time he was here.

Skeppy nodded at Bad before beginning the descent down the staircase. The Egg's aura only getting stronger.

And stronger.

And-

Clearer?

Suddenly Skeppy knew why Bad couldn't give him a straight answer. The ice was slowly cracking, small bits falling to the ground by Skeppy's feet. But, the ice was also turning red. The very shade of The Egg itself.

"What the hell?" Skeppy whispered, crouching down to pick up a small bit of ice from the ground. It was still cold, but it was also still clear. It took a few seconds before it melted into water, due to the heat of his skin. Skeppy looked to the right, seeing a piece of red ice. He picked it up, and searing pain exploded on his hand.

He threw the ice away and scrambled back with a cry of pain and surprise. It took a second before Skeppy looked down at his hand to see that it was burned.

"Are you okay?" Bad asked nervously from the stairs.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Just stay there. I want you as far from this thing as you can be." Skeppy replied, pushing himself back to his feet. An idea crossed his mind. He could just reinforce the glass, maybe add a few more layers. It would be safer than taking it down and building it back up. Clearly The Egg was getting too strong. They needed a plan soon.

Skeppy grumbled a few choice words about omelets before jumping a few times. He had to be sure he could do this. If not for himself, for Bad. Or to save literally everyone! A helpful little voice that sounded exactly like his own chimed in.

"Stand a little farther back please." Skeppy said, it would put him more at ease to know that Bad was farther. Skeppy reached to place his hand on the current ice. A part of it that was still clear. It was cold to the touch. Skeppy could still feel the ache in his arm. He focused on the ice under his palm. The feeling of it on his skin. Then he felt the new layers of ice form one by one, each having him move his hand away until he was at least a step back.

It wasn't that impressive. But it would definitely help or so he thought. Suddenly, almost as if The Egg's thoughts all sharpened into focus, Skeppy could feel its hatred. Then, he watched in horror as large cracks spread across the ice. Skeppy was just glad he had Bad move back more. He could only hope it would protect them.

The last thing Skeppy saw before the world went black was shards of ice bursting and flying towards him.
